Mikey Madison Reveals Where She Keeps Her Oscar, and It Comes With a Sweet Link to Her Dad
Winning an Academy Award changes a lot about a career, but it also creates one very predictable question. Once you own the statuette, everyone wants to know where it lives. For Mikey Madison, that question is going to follow her for the rest of her life.
The 27-year-old actress won Best Actress for ‘Anora’ at the 2025 ceremony, beating a field that included Cynthia Erivo, Karla Sofía Gascón, Demi Moore and Fernanda Torres. At 25, she became the first Gen-Z person to win an acting Oscar and the ninth-youngest winner in the category. She also picked up a BAFTA during that awards run, which she has described as a whirlwind.
Now Madison has finally answered the question. Speaking to People, she said, “I keep it next to my vinyl collection.” The Oscar sits beside her records instead of on a grand display shelf, which fits what we know about her.
She explained that she simply likes collecting things, especially old and antique ones. That includes a small collection of antique record players and consoles. It is a charming detail from a star who has long stayed away from the usual Hollywood trappings.
The setup carries a personal meaning, too. Madison’s father used to have a record collection of his own, and she says it became something they bond over. For a while, she got deeply into collecting records and old movie soundtracks, and she now has what she calls a pretty good stash.
That fits a family history that has shaped her taste in film. Her father is a longtime movie buff, and Madison has said she grew up watching directors such as Woody Allen, Quentin Tarantino, Sofia Coppola and Martin Scorsese. During the ‘Anora’ awards campaign, she also told Variety that she listened to a saved voicemail from her father before filming the film’s pivotal final scene. Her dad has clearly been a quiet presence throughout her career.
Madison grew up in California’s San Fernando Valley with two psychologist parents and four siblings. She now lives in Los Angeles, not far from where she was raised. By her own account, she is very much a homebody.
She says she enjoys cooking and spending time with her animals, and that her hobbies mostly come down to watching movies and hanging out with pets and friends. That low-key lifestyle matches her long-standing choice to avoid social media. It also helps explain why a statue like an Oscar ends up tucked among the things she actually loves.
Madison’s career has kept moving since the win. Her first major role afterward is Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen in Aaron Sorkin’s ‘The Social Reckoning’, which is in theaters now. The film follows Haugen as she leaks thousands of documents about Mark Zuckerberg’s social media platform to lawmakers and The Wall Street Journal.
The cast includes Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong, Bill Burr, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin and Billy Magnussen. Madison attended the film’s Paris premiere on October 1. Taking on a real-life whistleblower so soon after an Oscar suggests she is picking projects that challenge her.
The Oscar-and-vinyl pairing is the kind of small, human detail that makes celebrity interviews memorable. It shows an actress who values the things she collects and the people she shares them with, as much as the trophy itself. Fans have long admired how grounded Madison seems since her breakthrough.
It is also a reminder that even the biggest award in film can live in a very ordinary place. In Madison’s case, that place is next to a stack of records and a connection with her dad.
What do you think of Mikey Madison keeping her Oscar next to her vinyl collection?
