‘Yellowjackets’ Final Season Trailer Brings the Survivors Home and Promises a Reckoning as Release Date is Revealed
Few shows have turned survival horror into appointment television the way ‘Yellowjackets‘ has. Since the series arrived, fans have spent years piecing together what happened to a high school girls’ soccer team stranded in the wilderness, and the countdown to the answers is finally on.
The show has always been built around 2 timelines, one following the teenage survivors in the wild and another tracking the adults they became. The third season circled back to the pilot’s infamous cold open and revealed that Mari is the Pit Girl. It ended with Natalie using a sat phone to contact the outside world, which meant rescue was finally on the horizon.
Now the first trailer for the fourth and final season has arrived, and it is all about what comes after the rescue. The footage opens in a camcorder-style frame stamped January 3, 1996, and shows the survivors recounting their experiences on camera with vacant stares. Their parents put the behavior down to the shock of being found, but the trailer suggests the changes the girls underwent to survive are still haunting them.

The trailer then escalates quickly, with plenty of gun cockings, explosions and screaming, and it promises the show’s final reckoning. The official description teases that the survivors are racing to bury their sins before rescue arrives, while an old flame roars back into town with plans of her own. In the present, two of the Yellowjackets reportedly prepare to kill one of their own.
An earlier date announcement leaned into the 1990s setting with a fake ‘MTV News’ report announcing that the Wiskayok High Yellowjackets had been rescued after 19 months. It even included a fake shout-out from Alanis Morissette during ‘MTV Unplugged’, a playful touch for a series that has never hidden its love of the decade.
The returning cast includes Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton and Liv Hewson. Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess and two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank are also back. Nia Sondaya and Jenna Burgess were promoted to series regulars for the final season.
The guest list is just as notable. Molly Ringwald and June Squibb joined the cast, and Elijah Wood, Devon Sawa, Dulé Hill and Sam Braun are also among the guest stars. Creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson remain the showrunners.
The decision to end the show with the fourth season was confirmed last October. The creators had originally pitched a five-season plan, so the final chapter arrives one season earlier than many fans expected. Still, the third-season cliffhanger made it clear that the story was heading toward a conclusion.

The show has also been a ratings success. Paramount says the third season was the most-watched in the series’ history, and its finale drew more than 3 million global viewers in its first week. That momentum gives the final season plenty of attention as it tries to tie up its remaining mysteries.
The new episodes premiere Friday, November 20, on Paramount+ with the Premium plan, and all previous seasons are available to stream there now. With rescue finally at hand, the question is no longer whether the survivors will make it out, but what they will have to answer for when they do.
