Skybound and Image Comics to Explore the Origins of the Titular Villain in ‘Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man’
You might not know that the Universal Monsters franchise actually began in 1913 with the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde movie, an adaptation of Stevenson’s gothic classic. Since then, numerous horror movies have been produced and Universal has given us a series of brilliant monster movies.
Among them is The Invisible Man, first created by H.G. Wells. And while Wells created him, it was Universal that made the character a globally popular figure of horror fiction, mostly thanks to some brilliant movies.
And while the movies are on a hiatus, the story of The Invisible Man is going to be continued in a new series, which you can read about in this report.
The series we are talking about is a comic book series published jointly by Skybound and Image Comics, which is premiering later this year and will explore the gruesome origins of the titular villain; the official title is going to be Universal Monsters: The Invisible Man.

The images are absolutely amazing and if the series is to be judged by these first covers, it is going to be an exciting story for horror fans, especially fans of Universal’s Monsters.
The series is going to be a four-part origin story written by comic book legend James Tynion IV and drawn by DANI, whose art will contribute to the story in a major way. Not much else is known about this upcoming limited series, but even this was enough to get us interested.
The first issue is coming out in August 2025.
