‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Scoop Reveals New Scenes While Marvel Faces Third-Act Hurdle
Avengers: Doomsday is quickly turning into one of Marvel’s biggest projects ever. With more and more names being confirmed, it feels like this movie is bringing the whole multiverse together.
The cast is packed with fan favorites like Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, and Vanessa Kirby. And that’s just the beginning.
The movie will also feature several actors from the older X-Men films. Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn are all coming back. Patrick Stewart is back too, likely as Professor X again. But the biggest surprise? Robert Downey Jr. is returning, not as Iron Man, but as Doctor Doom.
While Marvel hasn’t shared the full plot yet, we know Doomsday is going to go all-in on the multiverse. Different realities are going to fall apart, and several teams will come into play, some that exist in the MCU already, and some that haven’t shown up yet.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, who posted the info on his Patreon, the movie is now filming some pretty wild scenes. One is set in The Void, and the other takes place during a baseball game on what fans are calling the Fantastic Four Earth.
The Void isn’t new if you’ve seen or followed Thunderbolts*. It’s a weird and dark place tied to Sentry, Bob Reynolds’ other “side.” It’s like a broken version of the world that shows his pain and trauma. It’s creepy and dangerous. Since Sentry plays a big role in Doomsday and already has a major part in Thunderbolts*, it makes sense The Void is coming back.
The baseball game is happening on a completely different Earth, the one where the Fantastic Four live. This isn’t the main MCU world, just so we’re clear. From what fans are guessing, this whole world may be wiped out by the end of the movie. That means the baseball game is probably a flashback, something to show what that universe had before everything went bad.
The last piece of info from Richtman is kind of a red flag. He says Marvel still doesn’t have the final act figured out. The third act is usually the big ending of these movies, and right now, it’s not done. “They still don’t have the third act figured out for Doomsday,” Richtman said.
No one knows exactly why, but it’s not the first time Marvel started shooting without a finished script. That’s caused issues before, and this time it could be even harder because of the huge cast and multiverse storyline.
Pulling all of this together is a massive job. You’ve got old heroes, new teams, alternate realities, emotional scenes, and major villains all in one movie. Marvel clearly has a lot on its plate.
Avengers: Doomsday is still in the works, and while things aren’t fully locked in, what we’ve seen so far already promises something massive.
