Apple TV’s Most Underwhelming Alien Sci-Fi Series Reveals Season 3 Trailer
Invasion is a sci-fi TV show created by Simon Kinberg and David Weil. It first came out on Apple TV+ on October 22, 2021. What’s cool about the show is that it’s told from the point of view of everyday people living in different countries, and you’ll hear English, Japanese, and Pashto spoken in the episodes. Fun fact: in Germany, the show is called Infiltration.
The story is about aliens visiting Earth and putting humanity in danger. The show follows several regular people as they try to understand the chaos caused by the alien arrival. The creators present the story in real time, which means you see everything unfold as it happens.
A trailer for the upcoming third season has just been released, giving fans a sneak peek of what’s to come. The third season is set to premiere on August 22, 2025, after the show was renewed back in February 2024.

The show has received mixed reviews so far. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the first season got a 48% approval rating based on 42 critic reviews. The average score was 5.6 out of 10. The critics’ summary said, “Invasion attempts a slow burn but inadvertently lets its tension completely fizzle out with leaden pacing that will leave viewers impatient for the alien apocalypse to finally arrive.”
Metacritic, another review site, gave the first season a score of 51 out of 100 from 15 critics, which means the reviews were “mixed or average.”
The second season, which premiered on August 23, 2023, did better with critics. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 64% approval rating from 11 reviews, with an average of 6.1 out of 10. Their summary read, “A marked improvement if not a wholehearted vindication, Invasion’s second season explores the fallout of an alien takeover with impressive scope.” Metacritic scored it 63 out of 100 based on 4 critics, which counts as “generally favorable reviews.”
So far, the show has been praised for its acting, music, and the way the story moves along. However, some critics think the aliens themselves don’t get enough screen time or development.
Overall, Invasion offers a slow-building alien story told through the eyes of normal people from around the world. With the new trailer out and a third season coming, fans have something to look forward to as the story continues to unfold.
