Jennifer Aniston Reveals Her Favorite ‘Friends’ Scene
Jennifer Aniston recently shared her favorite moment from her time on Friends, highlighting a scene that had her laughing and yelling all at once.
While fans often remember Rachel Green for her messy trifle disaster or her on-and-off romance with Ross, Aniston said one particular episode stands out.
She told reporters, “An episode with Ben Stiller and the chick and the duck, me exploding with anger when I was pregnant and waiting to give birth and everyone else was going before me. There really are so many funny moments and so many amazing memories of that show. I’m very lucky.”
The episode featured Ben Stiller in a hilarious screaming match with a couple of farmyard animals, and Rachel at her most furious, showing the character’s aggressive and fiery side.
Rachel’s sharp attitude often led to comical arguments with Ross, while the rest of the group tiptoed around her moods. Meanwhile, Phoebe’s extreme mood swings during pregnancy became another famous storyline.
Friends wasn’t just a TV show; it made a cultural mark. Psychologists studied its influence while it aired, noting that Aniston’s haircut, nicknamed “The Rachel,” became a global trend. Joey’s catchphrase “How you doin’?” entered everyday slang, and Chandler’s sarcastic habit of leaving sentences unfinished shaped the way fans talked. A University of Toronto study found the show also popularized the use of “so” to intensify adjectives.
The series’ reach grew even further when it became available on streaming platforms. In 2018, Friends accounted for 4% of all Netflix views, introducing a new generation to the 1990s sitcom.
Show creator Marta Kauffman said her daughter’s friends sometimes thought the series was a historical drama set in the 90s. One young viewer called it “aspirational … [kids hope] that when they’re that age … they’ll have those friends.”
Friends also helped non-English speakers learn the language. A 2012 poll by Kaplan International English Colleges found that 26% of students said Friends was the best show for improving their English. High-profile fans like Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, BTS member RM, and golfer Thomas Pieters have credited the show for helping them learn English.
Beyond language, Friends presented a new idea of family and life for young adults. The show suggested that friends could create a family through choice and support each other through life’s challenges.
A pop-culture expert at the University at Buffalo called Friends “one of those rare shows that marked a change in American culture.” It represented a lifestyle where young people ran their own lives, leaned on each other, and built strong relationships outside of traditional family structures.
Aniston’s favorite moment, the chaos with Ben Stiller, reminds fans why the show is still beloved. It mixed humor, friendship, and everyday struggles in a way that left a lasting impact on television and culture.
