Acclaimed Hit Series ‘Heartstopper’ Will End with a Movie, Netflix Confirms

Alice Oseman launched the original Heartstopper webcomic/graphic novel series back in 2016 and since then, it has become one of the foremost young adult series, especially when the LGBTQ+ community is concerned.
The series has become very popular and has been praised for its approach to various complex coming-of-age issues, as well as the representation of the LGBTQ+ community and its struggles.
In 2022, Netflix debuted the live-action adaptation of the original series starring Kit Connor and Joe Locke. The series has 24 episodes and three seasons, and it has just been confirmed that a movie is on the way as well.
Heartstopper has been a huge hit for Netflix. The series has been praised for its production values, writing, acting, as well as its topics. It has been praised for its representation of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as its approach to complex topics that are exceptionally important in the lives of young adults.
After the third season ended, it was unclear how and when the story would continue, but Netflix has now given us a precise answer:
As you can see, the series won’t be getting a fourth season, but rather a proper feature film that is going to be the final chapter in the series. We don’t know why Netflix opted for a movie instead of a full season, but the good thing here is that the series will be getting a proper conclusion.
Connor and Locke are set to reprise their roles, but we don’t have any other information, although we don’t expect to see the movie before 2026 (potentially very late 2025, but that is unlikely in our opinion).
And while the news of a movie is definitely great, it is a somewhat bittersweet piece of information, since we know that it is also the final chapter in the saga. We do believe that Oseman will finish the series on a high note, so we’re quite excited for the final chapter.
