We know that the Jedi and the Sith often use the Force in ways that make them powerful, as the Force manifests as an energy field that allows them to lift, push, and pull things with their mind and see things before they happen. But the thing is that other powerful beings in the galaxy can use supernatural powers that are difficult to understand. That is where the Nightsisters of Dathomir, who use something supernatural powers, come in as some of the most mysterious beings in Star Wars. So, what is the Nightsisters’ power?

The Nightsisters of Dathomir use a mysterious power called Magick. While Magick may seem unique to the Nightsisters, it is actually an aspect of the Force that focuses more on illusions, deceptions, and manipulation. In that regard, it is closer to the dark side than it is to the light side of the Force.

One of the things that the Nightsisters of Dathomir proved is that the Force has many different aspects. That means that the Force was never truly exclusive to the Jedi or Sith at all, as the Nightsisters have a different way of using this power. So, with that said, let’s look at what we know about Magick and how the Nightsisters use it.

The Nightsisters use Magick

If there’s one thing we learned in Star Wars, it’s that the power of the Force is the most incredible thing in the entire galaxy because this cosmic energy field governs the universe as some sort of god. The Force lives and flows through all living creatures in the galaxy, and that means that the Force is inherent in everyone. But while that may be true, only those with high Midi-chlorian counts are able to wield the power of the Force effectively.

That is why we’ve seen the Jedi and the Sith using the power of the Force in difficult ways for many different characters to understand. They use the Force to lift, pull, and push things with their mind. They can also use the Force to manipulate the minds of other people. The Sith are known to use the Force to drain the life force out of people and even project powerful bolts of lightning from their fingertips.

But while the Force may be powerful in the hands of a Jedi or a Sith, we know that other supernatural concepts exist in the Star Wars galaxy. For instance, the Nightsisters of Dathomir, introduced in ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ and given more attention in ‘Star Wars Jedi’ and ‘Ahsoka,’ are some of the most mysterious people in the galaxy. And that’s because they wield more mysterious powers than the powers that the Jedi and the Sith use.

The Nightsisters actually use something called Magick. This power allows them to manipulate green energy fields, create illusions, and even perform incredible feats that basically manipulate different elements of nature. The Nightsisters regard Magick as a living thing they can manipulate from blood, trees, and mist. And that is why the Nightsisters can use magick at will.

Mother Talzin, one of the most powerful Nightsisters in history, was so powerful that she could extend her lifespan due to Magic. That was why Palpatine formed a partnership with her, as he believed that he could also find a way to become immortal using the power of the Nightsisters’ Magick.

The Nightsisters are also so powerful that they can turn the corpses of the dead into the undead, as this was one of the things that Old Daka did during the events of the Clone Wars when General Grievous was sent to destroy the Nightsisters of Dathomir.

The Nightsisters are powerful enough to conjure illusions and even curse others. For instance, Talzin used Dooku’s hair to curse him as she nearly killed the powerful Sith Lord without the need for her to confront him directly. That is why the Nightsisters are often called witches, as they use spells and witchcraft that are beyond the understanding of other people in the galaxy.

In ‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,’ Merrin could use her Magick to basically teleport from one area to another. That means that Magick is a powerful tool in the hands of a well-trained Nightsister. And this is why Palpatine coveted the Nightsister Magick as well.

Magick is an aspect of the Force

While some people think that Magick is witchcraft in action, the truth is that this power is close to home, especially for those who can wield the Force. That’s because Magick is an aspect of the Force and is capable of using both the dark and the light sides of the Force. But because it focuses more on deception and manipulation, it goes without saying that it is closer to the dark side.

The thing about Magick is that it is an art that was mastered by the Nightsisters of Dathomir and was passed on to them from one generation to another. That’s why the Nightsisters have a natural affinity to it. For instance, Mother Talzin once admitted that she didn’t have the power to use the conventional abilities of the Force. That means that her ability to use Magick could be attributed to the fact that the Nightsisters were naturally gifted with the power to use Magick.

Of course, it was also proven that Magick is not exclusive to the Nightsisters. For instance, the Smuggler used Magick by breathing in the special energy mist that transforms the user’s blood into the ichor that powers Magick. The only pre-requisite is that the user should be sensitive to the Force. We also saw that Morgan Elsbeth was sensitive to the Force when she said in ‘Ahsoka’ that she could sense Thrawn from a different galaxy.

In that regard, the Nightsisters prove that there are a lot of different aspects of the Force. This means that the Force can be used in many ways other than the Jedi and the Sith use it. The fact that the Nightsisters found a way to use the Force in their unique style could also mean that some other civilizations all over the galaxy or even the entire universe have other uses for the power of the Force as well.
