‘Aladdin: The Monkey’s Paw’ Horror Flick Starts Filming in May

You probably know about a relatively new trend of horror adaptations of popular children’s classics. And while this isn’t something completely new, the number of such films we’ve been seeing in recent years is over the top.
And while most of these films targeted stories that were, at one point or another, adapted by Disney, the majority were actually based on popular children’s classics or fairytales. A new horror adaptation is coming up, and while there is a Disney classic retelling the same story, this one will actually be based on a very old tale.
We can confirm that the horror movie Aladdin: The Monkey’s Paw will begin filming next month and we have all the details you need to know!
This dark reimagining of the popular tale will come to us from Empire Studios, Every Entertainment, and 8th Law Pictures and we can confirm that filming will commence next month in the United Kingdom.
And while it has been adapted into a popular animated classic by Disney, the tale of Aladdin is actually an old folk tale most famously associated with the One Thousand and One Nights collection. Its ATU number is 561.
As for the movie, the official synopsis reveals the following:
A modern-day Londoner, Aladdin, inherits an ancient monkey’s paw believed to grant wishes, only to discover that every desire comes at a soul-crushing price. As those around him fall victim to its curse, he must confront a growing evil — and the demonic force that feeds on every wish made.
So, as you can see, it won’t be set in Arabia and it won’t have the same feel, but it will – as it seems – draw inspiration from the old tale. The movie will star Nick Sagar (Queen of the South), Ricky Norwood (EastEnders), Montana Manning (Tell Me Everything), and Bradley Stryker (Terrifier 3), who will also be directing the movie. Simon Stolland (Marching Powder) will be in charge of the photography.
As for the producers, they are Charley McDougall (Moon Quake), Jamie McLeod-Ross (The Reckoning), Nick Sagar, and Bradley Stryker. The screenplay was written by Charley McDougall. The Executive Producers are Rustin Matthew, Terry Bird, and Arthur Corber.
Currently, there is no release date for the film.
