Elektra is one of the most popular female anti-heroes in the world, and she was featured in movies before MCU was ever a thing, even going as far as to have her own movie, which was bombed with negative reviews – some would say with a good reason. But despite her standalone movie being met with highly negative reviews, Elektra was featured in subsequent projects, mostly street-level and as a supporting character to Daredevil, as the connection between the two of them seems to be the most striking thing about the character.

Since her first on-screen debut, Elektra was featured in 2 movies and two TV shows. We’re going to tell you how to watch them in proper order.

All four movies and TV shows featuring Elektra in release date order

Elektra marked her first on-screen appearance in ‘Daredevil’ released in 2003, played by legendary Jennifer Garner. She was contractually obliged to play Elektra in her own standalone movie released two years later, and following the nightmarish release, Garner’s representatives went as far as to say that the movie ruined her career and buried the chances of female-lead superhero movies being released in the near future. After Garner retired from her role in 2005, Elektra, played by Elodie Yung, appeared in ‘Daredevil’ series and ‘The Defenders’ series. Here’s the release order of all projects featuring Elektra.

  1. ‘Daredevil’ (2003)
  2. ‘Elektra’ (2005)
  3. ‘Daredevil (2016) – Season 2 10 Episodes
  4. ‘The Defenders’ (2017) Season 1 8 Episodes

Are all movies and TV shows featuring Elektra connected? What’s the best way to watch them?

Not all movies and TV shows featuring Elektra are connected, as we have 2, maybe even three continuities that are separate. The first continuity is the live-action continuity featuring Affleck’s Daredevil. Elektra’s standalone movie is a spinoff of that original movie, taking place after her death and subsequent resurrection.

The second continuity is the one set within the ‘The Defenders saga that is supposedly within the MCU. The events of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ series as well as ‘The Defenders series acknowledge the events of the movies, but the movies completely ignore the set’ The Defenders Saga’ canon.

There’s also the fact that Daredevil will be rebooted with ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ and it’s still under question whether the reboot will acknowledge the events from ‘The Defenders’ Saga. In any case, it’s complicated, but the best way to watch all movies and shows featuring Elektra is in release date order.

All movies and shows featuring Elektra in chronological order

Now that we’ve covered the continuties it’s time to explain in which chronological order the events featuring Elektra took place.

1. ‘Daredevil’ (2003)

Daredevil 2003

In her first live-action appearance, Elektra is introduced as a skilled martial artist and the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Her path crosses with Matt Murdock, who is also Daredevil, a blind lawyer with heightened senses who fights crime in Hell’s Kitchen.

Initially, Elektra is unaware of Matt’s double life as Daredevil. The two characters develop a romantic relationship, but their connection becomes strained when Elektra’s father is murdered, and she seeks revenge against the perpetrator, who she believes is Daredevil.

2 ‘Elektra’ (2005)

Elektra

Following her death in 2003, ‘Daredevil’ Elektra is given a new chance at life but is haunted by her past and struggles with her dual nature as a skilled killer and a woman seeking redemption.

Hired to assassinate a man and his daughter, Elektra becomes entangled with them and decides to protect them instead. As she forms a connection with her intended targets, she faces deadly adversaries, including other skilled assassins with supernatural abilities.

3 ‘Daredevil’ (2016) Season 2 – 10 Episodes

Elektra Daredevil Show

Elektra’s first TV show appearance came in the second season of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil,’ and Élodie Yung portrayed her. She is initially presented as a mysterious and enigmatic woman with a shared past with the series’ protagonist, Matt Murdock. Elektra seeks Matt’s help in investigating a powerful and dangerous criminal organization known as the Hand. As their history is revealed through flashbacks, it becomes clear that Elektra and Matt share a tumultuous and passionate romantic history. Her ‘Daredevil’ TV show appearance ends pretty much like the original movie.

4 ‘The Defenders’ Season 1 – 8 Episodes

Elektra the defenders

In the series, Elektra is resurrected by the Hand and manipulated into becoming their weapon, known as the “Black Sky.” Her memories are altered, and she is used as a powerful force by Alexandra Reid, the leader of the Hand. The Hand’s plan involves using the Iron Fist’s power to unlock the full potential of the Black Sky.

Throughout the series, Elektra struggles with her identity and the conflicting memories of her past life, including her relationship with Matt Murdock. As the Hand’s plans unfold, Elektra’s true nature and inner turmoil become central to the story.

Where to watch the above-mentioned movies & shows?

Two movies featuring Elektra can be bought on Apple TV and Amazon, as no large streaming services carry them. The shows featuring Elektra can be streamed on Disney+ or bought on Apple TV.

Will there be more projects featuring Elektra?

Elektra will be featured in the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’ movie, and she will be played by Jennifer Garner once again. This is not surprising as ‘Deadpool 3’ will tackle the multiverse, and there will be cameos from various cinematic characters created by Marvel that aren’t necessarily part of the MCU. As far as the MCU goes, who knows, Elektra might appear in future projects, especially in the upcoming ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ or if ‘The Defenders Saga’ is ever resurrected.
