Despite SSU movies generally receiving mixed to bad reviews (looking at your Morbius), the SSU continued and now has plenty of live-action and animated projects in development focusing both on Spider-Man’s supporting characters and his villains. ‘Madame Web’ was released on February 14th, and the movie bombed, with Dakota Johnson leaving scathing comments in the media regarding the movie’s development.

We can look forward to ‘Kraven the Hunter’ which arrives on 30th August 2024 and ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ which recently unveiled its final title and rushed release date, releasing on October 25th instead of November 3rd. Now ‘Venom’ is by far the most successful franchise that SSU currently has, so it’s not surprising that Feige wants to incorporate him into the MCU according to some reports.

Despite his story ending with ‘The Last Dance’ this doesn’t mean that it’s the end to ‘Venom’ projects. Recently, we’ve covered that there was some talk that the animated r-rate Venom project is in development and now notable scooper and leaker CanWeGetSomeToast reported that Seth Rogen is hired to pen the story.

Seth Rogen is to most audiences best known as an actor who frequently appears in stoner movies, but he did deliver some amazing work when it comes to the writing and directing department. Some of his notable writing projects include episodes for ‘Undeclared’ (2001-2002), ‘Da Ali G Show’ (2004), ‘The Simpsons’ (2009), ‘The League’ (2013-2014), and ‘Preacher’ (2016-2019). He also contributed to ‘Future Man’ (2017-2020) and directed episodes for ‘Black Monday’ (2019-2021) and ‘The Boys’ (2019-present). He also had a hand in ‘Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,’ ‘Gen V’ and ‘Invincible’ all projects that are highly acclaimed so we are confident that he can deliver an amazing story.
