‘Aquaman’ Star Amber Heard (40) Gives Fans a Rare Look at Her Life in Spain
Few actors have stepped back from the spotlight as completely as Amber Heard. Her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp went to trial in April 2022 and concluded on June 1, 2022. After it ended, she moved to Spain, first renting a property in Mallorca before settling in Madrid.
Since then, her public presence has been thin. Her Instagram activity remains sporadic, which makes each update feel like a small window into her life. Coverage of her routine abroad has described a quieter lifestyle focused on family rather than the Hollywood spotlight.
That is why a single Instagram post on Wednesday has drawn attention. Heard shared a photo from El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, a restaurant with three Michelin stars. In the picture she is studying the wine list, and the caption reads, “Now this is my kind of wine list.”
The image shows her laughing as she pages through the oversized book of bottles. She wore a red satin halterneck dress that left her arms bare, and fans quickly noticed how toned they looked. For a star who rarely posts, the candid, laughing shot felt like a deliberate peek behind the curtain.
The setting adds to the intrigue. The restaurant’s festival menu can cost €315 per person, according to coverage that credits the Daily Mail for the price. Michelin’s own guide notes that the Roca brothers are marking 40 years since the restaurant opened its doors in 2026, and that it has a long waiting list.
Reports framed the outing as a sign that Heard is continuing to settle into life there. The post suggested she had kept getting comfortable in Spain. Other outlets described the ‘Aquaman’ actress as enjoying a low-key life after the controversy surrounding her legal battle with Depp.
It also fits a larger pattern in how Heard shares her life. In May 2025, she announced the arrival of her twins via an Instagram post. Reports now describe her as raising three children on her own in Spain, a role she has said she took on on her own terms.
Heard has long said she feels at home in her adopted country. Not long after the move, she told Spanish reporters in a viral video that she loves Spain and hopes the move is permanent. She also dismissed rumors that she was retiring from film.
People magazine has reported that a source close to Heard said she felt she had to leave the U.S. after the polarizing trial. The same source said she was living her best life in Spain with her daughter. Against that backdrop, a smiling photo over a wine list reads as a small but telling sign of how far she has come from the courtroom years.
What do you think of Amber’s low-key life in Spain?
