Fox has officially confirmed when the new Baywatch reboot will hit TV, and the network is already treating the series like one of its biggest projects for 2027. According to Fox executives, the show will premiere in late January 2027 during the network’s midseason schedule instead of launching in the fall lineup.

Fox scheduling chief Dan Harrison shared the update during a media call, explaining that the network has a strong history of launching major hits in the middle of the TV season. Fox president Michael Thorn also spoke about the revival and made it clear the company sees Baywatch as one of television’s most important franchises.

“There’s only one Baywatch,” Thorn said during the call. “It’s one of the most iconic, popular television franchises in TV history.”

The network appears extremely confident in the reboot already. According to Fox executives, advertisers have quickly lined up behind the series months before its debut. Toyota has reportedly signed on as the exclusive automobile partner for the show, while another major beer sponsorship is also expected to be announced soon.

Fox has not officially confirmed how the show will premiere, but many believe the reboot could launch after one of the NFL playoff games in January. That strategy has helped several Fox shows become massive hits in the past.

Thorn admitted there is pressure attached to reviving such a famous series, especially because the original Baywatch became a global pop culture phenomenon in the 1990s.

“There’s a lot of pressure on us to try to make it great,” he said. “But there’s no way you don’t take that shot.”

The new version of Baywatch features a very different cast from the original series, mixing actors, athletes, influencers, and social media stars. The reboot stars Stephen Amell, Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, Livvy Dunne, and Brooks Nader. Two actors from the classic series, Erika Eleniak and David Chokachi, are also returning to reprise their original roles.

The original Baywatch became one of the biggest TV shows in the world thanks to its beach action, lifeguard drama, and instantly recognizable red swimsuits. The series turned stars like Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff into international celebrities and remained a huge ratings success for years.

Fox has not revealed many story details yet, but the network clearly wants this reboot to feel like a major television event. Executives repeatedly described the series as a “priority” for the company and hinted that they are carefully planning the launch to give it the biggest audience possible.

Fans online are already divided about the reboot. Some are excited to see Baywatch return with a younger cast and modern style, while others are skeptical about whether the new version can match the popularity of the original show. Still, the early attention surrounding the series proves people are curious to see what Fox does with the franchise next.

For now, viewers still have several months to wait before the lifeguards officially return to the beach in early 2027.
