The series picks up fifty years after the events of ‘Blade Runner 2049’, dropping viewers into a rebuilt Los Angeles that has been reshaped by forces other than humanity itself. Hunter Schafer stars as Cora, a fugitive who takes on the identity of a Blade Runner in what the official synopsis describes as a final bid to stop running, eventually partnering with Michelle Yeoh’s Olwen, a Replicant with only a limited amount of time left to live.
That pairing sets the stage for the show’s central mission, as the two characters are brought together to track down a single runaway who possesses information capable of collapsing the fragile peace holding the city together. Ridley Scott returns as an executive producer on the project, lending his creative fingerprints to the franchise’s first major television expansion.
During an exclusive conversation with Collider, Luisa revealed that all eight scripts for the season were completed before cameras ever started rolling, giving the production a clear roadmap heading into filming even as later episodes continued being refined along the way. When asked whether that meant the entire arc of the story had already been mapped out from the start, Luisa confirmed that it had, explaining it was necessary in order to begin prepping the series properly, in an exclusive interview with Collider.
Schafer added some levity to that same conversation, joking that the final chapters were still being polished all the way through filming, a claim Luisa readily admitted was completely accurate.

Jonathan van Tulleken directed the first two episodes, with Luisa serving as showrunner and executive producer.
