BREAKING: Wendell Pierce Has Reportedly Been Cast as the Daily Planet Editor-in-Chief Perry White in James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Movie!

With the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ DCEU officially ended, and now DCU is taking over. Even though Gunn’s reboot is supposed to be a soft reboot, it looks like the stories of DC characters under his leadership are going in a new direction. ‘Superman’ is the movie that is supposed to kick off the live-action portion of the DCU. Recently, we’ve learned that the movie has started principal photography and Gunn also shared on his social media a brief glimpse of the Superman Suti, revealing that it was influenced by Alex Ross.

As far as the cast goes, 90 % of names have already been revealed but according to The Hollywood Reporter, one more major name has joined. Wendell Pierce, renowned for his role in HBO’s ‘The Wire,’ has been cast to play the iconic editor-in-chief of The Daily Planet in the iconic film.

So far, the main cast consists of David Corenswet, who will portray Clark Kent/Superman with Michael Holt as Lex Luthor on the opposite side. Rachel Brosnahan takes on the role of Lois Lane, while Isabela Merced is set to play Hawkgirl. Edi Gathegi will depict Mister Terrific, and Nathan Fillion will bring to life Guy Gardner/Green Lantern. Anthony Carrigan is cast as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/Engineer. Sara Sampaio is set to portray Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Sean Gunn will appear as Maxwell Lord.

When it comes to the story itself, at the DCU reveal Gunn stated that the inspiration for the upcoming movie lies in ‘All-Star Superman,’ but it would be awesome if Gunn managed to mix both influences together.

Filming is set to begin at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, with an expected completion in July. The film will introduce members of the Authority and other superheroes, including Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, a Green Lantern. ‘Superman’ is expected to be released on July 11, 2025.
