Brendan Fraser Visits Egyptian Exhibition in London as ‘The Mummy 4’ Prepares to Roll Cameras
Brendan Fraser is clearly in full Rick O’Connell mode already. The Oscar-winning actor was spotted at the Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold exhibition in London and shared a playful caption to mark the occasion, joking that no ancient curses were accidentally awakened during the visit.
Fraser and Rachel Weisz are both confirmed to reprise their roles as adventurer Rick O’Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn O’Connell in the new film, which is directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by David Coggeshall. John Hannah, the only other actor to appear in all three original films, is also returning as Jonathan Carnahan, reuniting the core trio that made the first two entries so beloved.
Production is eyeing an August start date, with pre-production having kicked off in May. The Radio Silence duo, whose recent run of ‘Scream’ films has sharpened their genre instincts, have strongly implied that ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ will not be treated as canon, effectively picking up the story where ‘The Mummy Returns’ left off.
The film’s release date was recently moved up from May 2028 to October 15, 2027, with Universal shifting ‘Miami Vice ’85’ to fill the original slot. Plot details remain firmly under wraps.
Fraser has been refreshingly candid about the physical demands of returning to an action-hero role at 57. Appearing on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ he told Jimmy Fallon “please wish me luck” as he works to get his body back into shape, adding that the production plans to go back to real locations in the spirit of the originals. The comment landed with warmth and humor, much like everything Fraser does these days in a public space.

The franchise has grossed over $1.8 billion globally across its theatrical run, and original producer Sean Daniel is also returning for the new installment alongside a team of producers from Project X Entertainment. Fraser is additionally serving as executive producer on the film, a credit that signals just how personally invested he is in getting this one right.
With London’s ancient Egyptian treasures visited, training well underway, and cameras set to roll in just weeks, the sand is running through the hourglass on one of cinema’s most anticipated adventure revivals.
