The Mummy (franchise)
The Mummy is a long-running Universal Pictures franchise centered on an ancient Egyptian priest who is brought back to life and unleashes a deadly curse. Created by Nina Wilcox Putnam and Richard Schayer, the series began in 1932 with The Mummy, starring Boris Karloff as Imhotep. The original film series ran from 1932 to 1955 and included six movies, with Tom Tyler and Lon Chaney Jr. later portraying the mummy Kharis. The franchise is also considered a key part of Universal’s classic monster movie lineup.
