Catherine Zeta-Jones (57) Serves Gothic Glamour in a Cape-Sleeved Mini Dress to Promote ‘Kill Jackie’
Catherine Zeta-Jones has never hidden her love of dark fashion. She has said her closet has been mostly black all her life, and the Welsh star has built a signature look around smoky eyes and gothic glamour. The press tour began in London on September 24, where she attended the series premiere at Curzon Bloomsbury in a Zuhair Murad gown from the designer’s resort 2027 collection. The strapless sheer chiffon dress was encrusted with shimmering bugle beads in an icy pale shade, and she added a matching sheer cape.
Then she changed direction completely. On Tuesday, September 29, the actress stepped out in Spain’s Basque Country for a press conference at the Museo Vasco in Bilbao, and the images from that day are what have been making headlines.
Zeta-Jones wore a black mini dress with a plunging neckline and billowing, cape-like sleeves, described by fashion outlets as a cocoon or optical-illusion silhouette. The design put a spotlight on her legs and figure.
She kept the outfit monochromatic with sheer black tights and pointed-toe black stilettos. Her long brunette hair was styled in tight waves, and she wore her signature vampy makeup look.
The contrast between the two events was striking. Fashion writers described the switch from the beaded pastel gown to the little black dress as a sartorial 180, showing how Zeta-Jones can move between glamorous red-carpet drama and sleek, dark tailoring in a matter of days.
The Bilbao look also came just after her 57th birthday. She celebrated on September 25 with her husband, Michael Douglas, and the couple shared tributes on social media for their joint birthdays.

In the series, Zeta-Jones plays Jackie Price, a former international drug smuggler who has spent the last 20 years living a luxurious, anonymous life as a fine-art dealer. Her peaceful existence is shattered when she learns that a squad of elite assassins known as the Seven Demons has been hired to kill her.
Assuming someone from her past is behind it, Jackie unleashes her old instincts and embarks on a plan to take down the assassins one by one before they can get to her. It is an action-heavy role that offers a sharp contrast to the elegance of her red carpet appearances.
The eight-episode series is based on the novel ‘The Price You Pay’ by Sunday Times best-selling author Nick Harkaway, writing as Aidan Truhen. Tom Butterworth of ‘Gangs of London’ serves as writer and showrunner, and the show was co-created with Conor Keane, Peter Lawson of ‘John Wick’ and Damon Thomas of ‘Killing Eve’, who is the lead director.
Zeta-Jones is also an executive producer. The series is a Fremantle and Steel Springs Pictures production.
Daniel Ings, from ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ and ‘The Gentlemen’, plays Sam, Jackie’s buttoned-up lawyer and long-held crush. Ron Perlman and Bill Paterson also star, alongside Sidse Babett Knudsen, Óscar Jaenada, Hattie Hook, Darci Shaw, Raff Law, Enzo Cilenti and Julian Barratt.
The wide international ensemble suits the series’ globe-spanning premise, and the mix of dry British humor and hard-edged action is a reminder of the creators’ earlier work.
‘Kill Jackie’ premieres on October 2 on AMC+ in the US. It is also expected to debut on Prime Video in select international territories, and the show is part of AMC+’s New York Comic Con lineup.
With the premiere just days away, the Spanish press stop was a fitting final push. It gave fans another dose of the dark, glamorous energy the series promises.
