Catwoman & Oz Deleted Scene from ‘The Batman’ Hits Different After ‘The Penguin’ Finale: “One Day This City Is Gonna Be Mine”

An old deleted scene from The Batman is making fans look at Colin Farrell’s Penguin in a whole new way, especially after the season finale of The Penguin on Max. This is the second cut scene shared with the public, following the earlier reveal of Barry Keoghan’s Joker.

In the short scene, Selina Kyle, played by Zoë Kravitz, shows up at the Iceberg Lounge to speak with Oswald Cobblepot, also known as “Oz.” She wants to work downstairs in the hidden area called 44 Below, where Gotham’s most powerful criminals hang out. Oz offers her money to walk away instead, but Selina turns it down. That’s when things get tense.

Penguin warns her in a dark tone: “I know you don’t see it yet, honey. But Falcone ain’t gonna be around forever. One day this city is going to be mine.”

That line hits harder now, especially after the ending of The Penguin series and Oz did in fact manage to take over Gotham in a series of gruesome murders and betrayals. Also, in the final episode, Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone is locked up in Arkham Asylum when she gets a mysterious letter. The sender? None other than Selina Kyle.

Milioti previously shared how much she enjoyed playing Sofia and how badly she wants to return. She imagined what would happen if Sofia and Selina ever joined forces. “I think if [Sofia and Selina Kyle] were united, we would just really tear shit up… burn it down. You know what I mean? In a fun way,” she said. She also joked that she’d rather team up with Selina and go up against both Penguin and Batman.

It’s not known exactly why the Selina and Penguin scene was left out of the final cut of The Batman, but the ideas in it clearly connected to future stories.

The first season of The Penguin was highly acclaimed and took home several awards. But what about the second season? Well, even though fans are sceptical that it can top the original show, the showrunners admitted that it’s on the table.

Farrell had once said he didn’t want to return to the role because of how intense the makeup and acting process was, even saying, “I never want to put on that f—–g suit and f—–g head again.” But after the finale, he changed his mind and said he’d be open to doing a second season. Reeves also confirmed that talks about season two had already started with LeFranc as of late 2024.

This scene, though short, adds a lot more weight to Penguin’s journey. It shows that his hunger for power has always been there, and it connects neatly with where we see him now in the spin-off. It also hints that Selina might have a bigger part to play in what comes next.
