Marvel’s Multiverse Saga is barreling toward its finale, and the buzz around ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has reached a fever pitch as fans count down to its December release. Between leaked footage, surprise cast reveals, and a steady drip of casting confirmations, the road to the next two ‘Avengers’ films has been anything but quiet.

Chris Evans, who spent over a decade defining Steve Rogers for an entire generation of moviegoers, became part of that conversation again after his shocking return to the role was confirmed for ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ That comeback alone reignited speculation about just how far his MCU journey might stretch this time around.

Now a new clip making the rounds online suggests Evans isn’t done yet. According to a post shared by ComicBook.com, Evans can be heard confirming his involvement in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ the sequel that will close out the Multiverse Saga. In the audio, sourced from Instagram user @comicconmomsi, Evans says, “I start work on the next one in a couple months, so I’m in the next one. I can’t tell you how much I’m in the next one, but I’m in it.”

The remark doesn’t confirm which character Evans will be playing in ‘Secret Wars,’ though given his return as Steve Rogers in ‘Doomsday,’ most fans are assuming continuity between the two films.

What is notable is the framing of his comment, suggesting his role might be smaller this time around, a structure that would echo how Marvel handled ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ where certain characters had reduced screen time in the second installment despite major arcs in the first.

For longtime fans, the idea of Steve Rogers reappearing yet again carries plenty of emotional weight. His arc seemingly concluded at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ when he chose to live out his life with Peggy Carter rather than continue as Captain America. The character’s return for ‘Doomsday’ already upended that sense of closure, and now ‘Secret Wars’ appears poised to bring him back once more, even if only briefly.

‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is currently set for a December 2027 release, with Anthony and Joe Russo returning to direct after helming ‘Doomsday.’ Robert Downey Jr. is reprising his MCU role in a new capacity as Victor Von Doom, and the film is expected to bring together heroes from across the franchise, including members of the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts, as the Multiverse Saga reaches its climax.

With production reportedly set to begin within the next couple of months according to Evans’ own comments, more details about the scope of his role and the overall direction of ‘Secret Wars’ could start trickling out sooner than fans expect. Until then, speculation about exactly how Steve Rogers fits into Marvel’s biggest crossover yet will likely only grow louder.
