Fans of Peaky Blinders finally have something to look forward to.

Cillian Murphy, who plays the iconic Tommy Shelby, has confirmed that the upcoming film continuation of the hit TV series will be released in 2026.

The new movie, titled The Immortal Man, is directed by Tom Harper and written by Steven Knight, the creator of the original series. Netflix will handle the film’s distribution. The story picks up from where the TV series left off, bringing back key characters alongside new additions to the cast.

Murphy will return as Tommy Shelby, joined by familiar faces including Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck. The film will also feature Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo, and Barry Keoghan in major roles.

Filming for the movie began on September 30, 2024, at Digbeth Loc Studios in Birmingham and across various locations in the West Midlands. Some scenes were also shot in St Helens, Merseyside, at the former Pilkington Watson Street works. Production wrapped in December 2024.

The project has been in development for several years. After the TV series ended in 2022, Steven Knight hinted at continuing the story with a feature film.

Murphy expressed his interest in returning to the character, emphasizing that the story must feel meaningful and justified. By early 2024, the cast and production team were confirmed, and filming officially got underway later that year.

With its blend of returning characters and new faces, The Immortal Man aims to capture the intense drama and gritty world that fans loved in the original series.

Fans are excited to see Tommy Shelby back on screen, especially with such a strong cast and Netflix behind the project. The 2026 release gives the team plenty of time to make it a worthy continuation of the series. What do you think about the upcoming film? Share your thoughts in the comments.
