In the Season 2 finale of Daredevil: Born Again, fans saw a major turning point for Matt Murdock and the wider street-level Marvel world. The episode brought back Jessica Jones, but her role was much smaller than many expected. Showrunner Dario Scardapane recently explained why she was not used more.

The finale saw Matt Murdock publicly reveal that he is Daredevil during a dramatic court scene. That moment changed everything for him. By the end of the episode, he is arrested and sent to prison. At the same time, chaos breaks out in New York as Kingpin pushes the city into violence, forcing heroes like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and White Tiger to step in and stop the destruction.

Jessica Jones appears in the final stretch of the season, teaming up with Daredevil during the crisis. The episode also briefly reconnects her with Luke Cage, hinting at a larger reunion of Marvel’s street heroes. However, her screen time is limited compared to what some fans expected.

Scardapane said Jessica’s appearance was always planned for later in the season rather than early on. He explained that the story needed time to build the larger conflict with Kingpin before bringing her in. He also pointed out that timing and actor availability played a big role in shaping how the character returned.

He added that the goal was not to rush her story. Instead, the team wanted her return to feel meaningful and tied to the bigger escalation of events in the final episodes. According to him, balancing multiple major characters made it impossible to give everyone equal focus throughout the season.

The finale ends with several setups for the future, including hints at a larger reunion of Marvel’s street-level heroes like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and others. Her return is clearly being saved for something bigger ahead.

Jessica Jones being used sparingly makes sense for a crowded story, but it still feels like a missed opportunity because fans waited a long time to see her again. At the same time, it does feel like Marvel is building toward a bigger team-up, which could pay off later if done right. What do you think about Jessica Jones having a smaller role in the finale?
