The story of Ryan Reynolds and how he became the first live-action Deadpool is something that every comic book movie fan knows. As we remember, back in 2009, Reynolds joined the ‘X-Men’ franchise as Wade Wilson in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’ The story from the comics, in which talkative Wilson was subjected to the government experiment that turned him into a mutant, was featured in the movie. Still, it was heavily changed and became a subject of mockery among fans.

In 2014, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ created a new franchise timeline, which opened the way for Reynolds’ second attempt to become the ultimate live-action Deadpool in all of his glory. The second time was the charm, as, in 2016, the original ‘Deadpool’ movie was released, and it received highly positive reviews, which particularly highlighted Reynolds’ performance and adaption of everything that Deadpool is known for from the source material. Two years later, ‘Deadpool 2’ was released to comparable critical and commercial success.

Shawn Levy talks about the upcoming ‘Deadpool’ theequel!

Tim Miller directed the first ‘Deadpool’ movie, and David Leitch helmed the sequel. Shawn Levy, who previously directed two Ryan Reynolds-led movies, ‘Free Guy’ and ‘The Adam Project,’ was hired to direct the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3,’ which will certainly be the most special ‘Deadpool’ movie yet.

‘Deadpool 3’ will feature the return of many stars from the previous two movies, with the exception of Zazie Beetz and Josh Brolin, who won’t return as Domino and Cable. However, Hugh Jackman has signed to return as Wolverine one more time, which immediately made ‘Deadpool 3’ probably the most anticipated MCU movie at this moment.

‘Deadpool 3’ Will Reportedly Introduce Kidpool to Live Action

Although the filming is currently on hold due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood, the director Shawn Levy recently spoke with Deadline and teased what we expect from his next flick.

“Well, like the rest of our industry, or at least large swaths of it, we are paused. We were halfway through filming. It was a joy every day, and that chemistry is, I have to say, spoiler alert, as relentlessly awesome as we had all hoped it would be. But we are halfway through filming.

I only know to make something that I love. Long before I loved Ryan Reynolds, I loved Dedpool. ‘Deadpool 1’ is, to me, a perfect movie, and so I was not going to mess with the DNA of that franchise. Our movie is raw, audacious, very much R-rated.

We went to great lengths to not shoot it on sound stages with digital environments. The internet has proven that by revealing pictures of our shoot. Thank you, internet! But we wanted something that felt grounded, real, but you put Hugh Jackman in his most iconic character alongside Ryan Reynolds in his most iconic character.”

‘Deadpool 3’ is currently set to be released in May 2024. However, with the production being on hold for the last two months, the possibility of another delay is increasing every day.
