‘Deadpool 3’ Star Emma Corrin Talks About Their Role as a Villain

‘Deadpool 3’ is one of the most anticipated Marvel projects at this moment due to a number of reasons. We know that this movie will officially bring Ryan Reynold’s Merc with a Mouth to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We also know that it’s going to be the first R-rated MCU movie and that Hugh Jackman will make his comeback as the Wolverine. Not that those big comebacks are something new now, but Jackman’s return certainly released the hype for the movie the moment his return was announced.

The entire plot of ‘Deadpool 3’ is kept under wraps, although there are rumors that the movie will depict another Multiverse story that will integrate Fox’s X-Men franchise, in which Reynolds and Jackman debuted in their respective Marvel roles, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which now has the rights to use X-Men and other mutant characters from the comics after Disney purchased Fox in 2019.

Emma Corrin teases their villain role in ‘Deadpool 3’

It’s currently unknown who’s going to the movie’s main villain, but we know that an English actor Emma Corrin was cast in an undisclosed villain role. Which Marvel villain they’ll play is anyone’s guess, but they recently opened up about the role in a recent interview for Empire Magazine. They didn’t reveal which character they’ll play, but they offered some little teases.

“I feel really excited to play a villain. I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch. I’d heard about the project, but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch. So I met him [the director Shawn Levy] being like, ’I don’t know what this is about.’

Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person. I’ve watched ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Black Panther.’ I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’ It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mind-f***. All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back and this person’s dead. It’s amazing.

I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people. It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially ‘Deadpool,’ because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings.”

Emma Corrin is best known for playing Diana, Princess of Wales, in the Netflix series ‘The Crown,’ for which they were nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award.

‘Deadpool 3’ has begun filming last May, but two weeks ago, the production was put on hold due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. The movie is currently set to be released next May, but if these strikes aren’t resolved soon, it’s getting more and more likely every day that the movie will be delayed.

Shawn Levy has signed to direct, and the movie also stars returning stars Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapičić, Shioli Kutsuna, and Rob Delaney. Jennifer Garner also returns as Elektra, reprising the role from 2003’s ‘Daredevil’ and 2005 ‘Elektra.’

‘Deadpool 3’ is currently set to be released on May 3, 2024.
