Disney wants to get young kids moving, and they’re bringing some of their biggest names along to help. The company has just announced a new campaign called Disney Jr. Let’s Play!

It’s a big plan to encourage preschoolers and their families to be more active, and they’re using characters like Mickey Mouse, Bluey, and Marvel’s Spider-Man to do it.

The news was first shared on ABC’s Good Morning America. More Let’s Play! Segments will show up on the show throughout the summer, showing families fun ways to move and play together.

Disney is using many of its brands and teams to power this project. That includes Disney Jr., Disney Music Group, ABC News, ESPN, and even nonprofit group Every Kid Sports. One part of the plan involves ESPN’s “Take Back Sports” program teaming up with Disney Jr. and Every Kid Sports to help families who can’t afford to pay for their kids to join a sport. Preschoolers will be able to apply for grants to cover the cost of signing up for a fall sports season.

Other fun events are part of the plan too. There will be Disney Jr. Let’s Play! parties at over 400 roller rinks across the country. A special day is also planned for Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney later this summer. On top of that, Disney Music Group will help run a live concert tour and create short YouTube videos based on preschool routines.

Characters from shows like Bluey, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, SuperKitties, and Spidey and His Amazing Friends will appear throughout the campaign. They’re all meant to help inspire movement and fun in everyday life.

Ayo Davis, who runs Disney Branded Television, explained why this matters to the company. “At Disney Jr., play is more than a pastime — it’s a key part of how we tell stories, spark imaginations and help kids make sense of the world,” she said. “Our characters aren’t just beloved favorites, they’re friends who inspire movement, creativity and joy. With Disney Jr. Let’s Play!, we’re inviting families to take that playful spirit beyond the screen and into everyday life.”

The campaign also has support from experts. Dr. Kathryn L. Keough, a clinical psychologist from the Child Mind Institute, says play is important for preschoolers. “Play-based activities support the healthy development of preschoolers and allow them to experience the positive emotions that are essential for their well-being,” she said. “When preschoolers pretend to play as their favorite characters, it gives parents and caregivers a natural ‘in’ to play along with them and brings joy to the whole family.”
