The short answer is no, Roscoe Conklin has not returned in either ‘Reacher’ season 2 or season 3, and there is a very specific reason rooted in the source material that explains why.

Roscoe Conklin’s Season 1 Role

‘Reacher’ season 1 is based on the novel ‘Killing Floor’ and follows Jack Reacher as he investigates a local conspiracy alongside police officers Oscar Finlay and Roscoe Conklin while also trying to uncover his brother’s murderer. Roscoe, played by Willa Fitzgerald, was a sergeant with the Margrave Police Department who found herself pulled into Reacher’s investigation into corruption and murder in the small Georgia town.

Along the way, Roscoe and Reacher developed a romantic relationship, though he ultimately leaves town at the end of the season, being given her phone number and an open invitation to return. The two parted ways on good terms, with Reacher suggesting Roscoe run for mayor and Roscoe telling him to call her anytime he felt like doing so.

That ending gave the character a satisfying send off, but it also planted the seed of doubt for fans who wondered whether the show would ever circle back to her.

Why Willa Fitzgerald Left Reacher After Season 1

Roscoe’s absence in the second season comes down to the fact that Jack Reacher moves out of Margrave, which was her hometown, and the show stays faithful to the book series it adapts. The character simply is not part of the Jack Reacher stories after ‘Killing Floor,’ the book that season one adapted.

Season 2 adapts the novel ‘Bad Luck and Trouble,’ and future seasons continue to adapt different books, none of which feature Roscoe in any capacity. That means her exit was never really a creative decision made on set, it was baked into the source material from the start.

Showrunner Nick Santora has confirmed that Roscoe will not be returning, and even author Lee Child has reportedly expressed disappointment about her being left out of future seasons. Bringing Finlay and Roscoe back would require deviating wildly from Lee Child’s books, something the show has been careful to avoid.

Interestingly, Willa Fitzgerald herself was never blindsided by this, having said in an interview that she always knew her character would only have a story arc for one season. So while the door closing on Roscoe stung for fans, it was not exactly a surprise behind the scenes.

‘Reacher’ Season 2 and Season 3 Confirmed, but Roscoe Doesn’t Return

Season 2 does bring back Chief of Detectives Oscar Finlay, played by Malcolm Goodwin, but Roscoe is nowhere to be found beyond a brief mention. She is brought up in an awkward conversation with Karla Dixon, appearing in season 2 in name only.

That one mention was seemingly enough to remind fans just how much they missed her presence, but it did not translate into an actual appearance.

‘Reacher’ season 3 concluded on March 27, 2025, and Roscoe once again did not make an appearance, despite plenty of hope from the audience that she might resurface. Given that Reacher and Roscoe would have been apart for over two years by that point, assuming they never reconnected between seasons, the emotional distance only grew wider with each passing season.

Could Roscoe Still Come Back to ‘Reacher’?

There is a sliver of hope left for fans who have not given up on a reunion. Willa Fitzgerald has admitted she has not heard anything from the creative team about Roscoe’s potential return, telling ScreenRant that people should “ask Nick Santora” about it, but she remains open to the possibility.

The show’s creator has reportedly been open to the idea of Finlay and Roscoe returning, though incorporating them organically into future storylines could prove difficult and might not be worthwhile given how the books are structured. Still, television adaptations bend the rules of their source material all the time, and ‘Reacher’ has already shown some flexibility by bringing Finlay back for a cameo appearance.

For now, Roscoe Conklin remains a beloved chapter of ‘Reacher’ rather than an ongoing character, but the door has not been completely welded shut. Whether Amazon and Nick Santora ever find a reason to write her back into Jack Reacher’s drifting life is anyone’s guess.
