Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer for Evil Dead Burn, a new horror film coming from the long-running Evil Dead franchise. The movie is directed by Sébastien Vaniček and is set to arrive in theaters on July 10.

The film continues the modern run of standalone entries in the series after Evil Dead in 2013 and Evil Dead Rise in 2023. According to Warner Bros. Pictures, this new chapter brings a fresh story with a new cast while still staying inside the same horror universe.

The story follows a woman who has recently lost her husband. She goes to stay with her in-laws at their remote family home, hoping for comfort. Instead, things quickly turn into something violent and supernatural.

The official logline says, “After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home. As one by one they are transformed into Deadites — turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell — she comes to discover that the vows she took in life… live on even in death.”

The trailer, as shown by Warner Bros. Pictures, is very graphic and dark. It shows disturbing scenes including a Deadite character with severe injuries, strange and violent behavior, and several moments of brutal horror inside the house. The tone is intense and focuses on body horror and possession.

The cast includes Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Tandi Wright, and George Pullar. These actors take on the roles of the family members and others caught in the nightmare unfolding in the house.

The Evil Dead franchise was first created by Sam Raimi with The Evil Dead in 1981. That film introduced the idea of a group of friends in a cabin accidentally releasing demonic forces. It was followed by Evil Dead II in 1987 and Army of Darkness in 1992, which became cult classics.

Bruce Campbell, who starred in the original films, is involved again as an executive producer. He is joined by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, with production under Ghost House Pictures. Lee Cronin, who directed Evil Dead Rise, also returns as an executive producer.

The film is co-financed by New Line Cinema and Sony Pictures, with Sony handling international distribution through Columbia Pictures. A seventh film in the franchise, titled Evil Dead Wrath, is already being discussed for a future release.
