‘Fantastic Four’ is currently the hottest upcoming MCU movie only a few days ago release date and cast were announced, confirming what we’ve known for quite a while. Pedro Pascal will be MCU’s new Reed Richards, with Vanessa Kirby taking on the role of Sue Storm.

The Thing and the Human Torch will be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn respectively. Filming is expected to begin this summer, and due to the release date being switched, ‘Thunderbolts’ lost its July 2025 spot being moved to release earlier than expected on May 2, 2025. Despite the main cast being confirmed, there was not a speck of news regarding the movie’s possible villain.

Several months ago Antonio Banderas was reportedly the main candidate to play Galactus in the movie, only to be replaced by Javier Bardem who was, once again, only rumored to be the top choice for the role. Now that the Silver Surfer casting has been resolved and confirmed, our attention is once again on Galactus.

According to Justin Knoll, no one has been cast in the role of Galactus as of yet and there are no top contenders for the role, which implies that somewhere down the line Bardem walked away from the role. Galactus is also expected to be the movie’s main villain. Which is a bold decision to make in the first installment of the franchise.

Galactus already appeared in live-action before, in the original ‘Fantastic Four’ movies. Galactus appeared in ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ as a disembodied cloud of cosmic matter. His signature helmet appears later in the movie. And to say the least, fans were disappointed. I mean, it was one of the reasons why fans were disappointed, but on the other hand, it was really brave to include Galactus in the first place.

An unused storyboard scene created by Anthony Winn revealed that Galactus was supposed to be featured in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ as one of the villains that Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor would have fought as soon as she acquired Mjolnir. The scene eventually didn’t make it to the final cut of the movie, but based on the art, we can see that Galactus’ would be featured in his full size.

We can most likely expect Galactus to be featured in full size in the upcoming reboot as well, at least for some of the scenes, since Galactus has the capacity to take any form he wants to. What do you think? Who is the best choice for Galactus? Let us know in the comments below!
