After Fast X was released, Vin Diesel said that Universal might make two more Fast & Furious movies, depending on how well Fast X did in theaters. At first, director Louis Leterrier didn’t confirm if the next film would be the last one. But now, we know what’s really happening.

A new spin-off movie called Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes was announced not long after Fast X came out. This movie will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Momoa, and it will focus on their characters, Hobbs and Dante Reyes. This news really shed light on that second movie, which now turned out to be Fast X Part 2.

In January 2024, there was news that the next Fast & Furious film might feel more like the older movies. It could be about one big mission and have a new villain, not Dante this time.

Then, in February 2024, Vin Diesel confirmed that the eleventh movie would officially be the last in the series. Fans have been following the franchise for more than 20 years, and it will all come to an end with this final chapter.

Now, according to trusted industry insider Daniel Richtman, via his Patreon account, the filmmakers are searching for a “Kingpin-type” character to play a big role in the upcoming film.

Ideally, they want someone with a strong presence, similar to legendary actor Anthony Hopkins. However, they’re also open to casting someone younger, with names like Keanu Reeves or Hugh Jackman being the type of actors they’re considering.

That’s pretty much everything we know about the movie at this point, we also know that the movie has been delayed.

In May of last year, director Louis Leterrier announced that Fast & Furious 11 was delayed from its original release date of April 4, 2025, to sometime in 2026, with no exact date given.
