Final ‘Dune: Part Three’ Trailer Is Almost Here, and Warner Bros. Is Teasing One Last Trip to Arrakis

Some movie campaigns feel like a countdown, and the one for ‘Dune: Part Three’ has been unfolding like a slow desert storm. Each poster, teaser and trailer has added another layer of dread to Denis Villeneuve’s conclusion. Now the final piece of that rollout is about to arrive.

The film adapts Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune Messiah’ and picks up 17 years after ‘Dune: Part Two,’ with Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides ruling an empire built on a holy war. Villeneuve, who co-wrote the script with Brian K. Vaughan, has called it more action-packed and tense than his earlier entries. It opens in North America on December 18, with an international release beginning on December 16.

Warner Bros. has now announced that the final trailer will arrive tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27. The news came alongside a fresh batch of character posters and an atmospheric teaser image of a lone figure in a sandstorm.

The studio unveiled a new set of character posters and said a new trailer would follow. These are the film’s second set of character posters, since the first batch arrived in March to build anticipation for the teaser. The latest ones set the stage for the final trailer.

No release time or runtime has been confirmed for the trailer, and it is unclear how much of the previous footage will be reused. Fans will be watching closely for when it goes live.

The image shared with the announcement is simple but striking. Golden sand ripples across the foreground, and in the distance a solitary figure walks through blowing dust beside an object trailing in the wind. It’s the kind of quiet, mysterious frame that has defined the series.

The posters are more intimate. Paul appears with a striking blue eye and facial injuries, Zendaya’s Chani is shown in an emotional moment and Anya Taylor-Joy’s Alia is covered in blood and screaming. Jason Momoa’s Hayt holds a weapon against a sunlit backdrop, and Robert Pattinson’s villainous Scytale appears with blond hair. Each carries the tagline “The Epic Conclusion” along with the release date and IMAX logo.

‘Dune: Part Three’ New Character Posters Put Chani’s Heartbreak, Alia’s Fury and a Shape-Shifting Villain Front and Center

The first teaser arrived on March 17, offering a first look at Pattinson’s Scytale and glimpses of battle. A fuller trailer followed on July 8 at an IMAX global fan event in Los Angeles, where Villeneuve and Chalamet unveiled the footage. It also played before IMAX 70mm screenings of ‘The Odyssey.’

Those previews showed a Paul who seems more shaken and less certain, having unleashed a wave of intergalactic bloodshed. They included aerial warfare, sword fights, a screaming Alia and a massive sandworm seemingly summoned by Chani. The July trailer also showed Princess Irulan and Scytale discussing a regime change, which Irulan translates as killing Paul.

Chalamet leads alongside Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin and Taylor-Joy. Momoa returns as Hayt, a ghola created from Duncan Idaho, while Pattinson joins as the shape-shifting Scytale. Ida Brooke and Nakoa-Wolf Momoa play Paul and Chani’s twin children, Ghanima and Leto II.

The first two films grossed over $1 billion combined, which has helped make the finale one of the most anticipated releases of the holiday season.

The marketing is also a battle for attention. ‘Dune: Part Three’ opens on the same day as ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ a clash fans have nicknamed ‘Dunesday.’ London’s BFI IMAX already broke its first-day presale record with 33,000 tickets sold in 24 hours, and tracking points to a franchise-record opening of more than $100 million.

Even so, reports suggest ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is expected to outsell the film by a wide margin. ‘Dune: Part Three’ does have one advantage, which is that it reportedly holds IMAX to itself for three weeks. Current theater listings put its runtime at 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Final trailers carry a special kind of weight. They arrive when tickets are on sale and the story is mostly settled, giving a studio one last chance to explain why audiences should show up on opening weekend. For a trilogy built on scale and sound, that likely means a bigger helping of IMAX-style spectacle and emotional stakes.

Whether it reveals new footage or remixes familiar moments, the trailer will mark the end of the campaign. After that, the only thing left is the film itself.
