Netflix is bringing the Splinter Cell video game series to life with a new adult animated show called Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. The series is set to premiere on October 14, and fans got their first look at the poster and trailer recently.

The show follows Sam Fisher, a field commander of Fourth Echelon, a secret U.S. government unit that handles counter-terrorism and stealth missions. Liev Schreiber will voice Fisher in the series. Other cast members include Janet Varney as Anna “Grim” Grímsdóttir, the team’s technical operations officer, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Zinnia McKenna, and Joel Oulette as Thunder.

Derek Kolstad, known for his work on the John Wick franchise, serves as lead writer and executive producer, while Guillaume Dousse directs the series with Félicien Colmet-Daage as co-director. According to Kolstad, only the first season has been officially green-lit and it will take a few years before a follow-up season is considered.

The project was first announced by Ubisoft Film & Television in July 2020, and animation is being handled by Danish/French Sun Creature Studio and the French studio Fost. In August 2024, Michael Ironside, the longtime voice of Sam Fisher in the games, said he was too old to return for the series. Liev Schreiber was later confirmed as Fisher in September 2024 when Netflix revealed the first trailer and poster.

“It’s exciting to bring Sam Fisher to a new audience in this animated format,” Kolstad said during the announcement.

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch promises to stay true to the stealth and espionage action of the games while exploring new stories for the characters. With its first trailer now online, fans can expect intense missions, covert operations, and the classic tension the franchise is known for.

This series has a lot of potential to attract both longtime fans and newcomers. The combination of adult animation and Kolstad’s writing could make it a standout Netflix show next fall. Are you excited to see Sam Fisher in action again? Share your thoughts in the comments.
