Four Different ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailers Coming With Upcoming Cinematic Spectacle
Disney and Marvel are planning an unusual marketing move for Avengers: Doomsday, and it will be tied directly to the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash.
According to industry sources, four different trailers for the upcoming Avengers film will be shown in theaters, but not all at once.
Instead of using one standard trailer, Disney will rotate four separate versions. Each trailer will play for one week only before being replaced by the next one. This means moviegoers who see Avatar: Fire and Ash on opening weekend will see a different Avengers: Doomsday preview than those who attend the following weeks.
The strategy appears designed to push hardcore fans to return to theaters more than once to catch every version.
Sources say theaters will receive all four trailers in advance, with clear instructions on when to switch them out. The rollout has been talked about privately for weeks and was later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. Marvel Studios has not commented publicly on the plan.
The trailers will be attached exclusively to Avatar: Fire and Ash, the next chapter in James Cameron’s Avatar series. The film is the sequel to Avatar: The Way of Water and continues the long-running sci-fi franchise that began in 2009. Cameron directed the movie and co-wrote the script with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, with story contributions from Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.
This world is much deeper than you imagine. Watch the brand-new trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash and experience it in theatres December 19th.

Fire and Ash brings back many familiar faces, including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, and several others. The film has been in development for years and was shot alongside The Way of Water in New Zealand. Production wrapped in 2020 after an extended shoot, partly due to the complex underwater filming technology used.
The movie premiered in Hollywood in early December and is scheduled to open in U.S. theaters on December 19. With a reported budget around $400 million, it ranks among the most expensive films ever made. Two more Avatar sequels are already planned for release later this decade.
By linking Avengers: Doomsday trailers to Avatar: Fire and Ash, Disney is clearly trying to turn one massive release into a marketing engine for another. It is a rare move and shows how far studios are willing to go to boost repeat theater visits in a competitive market.
