Tom Francis may soon be stepping into one of Hollywood’s biggest roles. According to Variety, the 26-year-old British actor has auditioned to play James Bond in the next film from the long-running franchise.

Francis recently gained major attention for starring opposite Nicole Scherzinger in Sunset Boulevard. The production became one of the most talked-about shows on Broadway, especially after Francis performed the title song while walking through New York’s theater district as cameras followed him live during the show.

Variety reports that the Bond casting process is still ongoing and is being handled by casting director Nina Gold. Representatives for Francis and Amazon MGM Studios did not comment on the rumors.

Even though Francis is mostly known for theater work, his career on screen is starting to grow. He had a small role in Jay Kelly and is also set to appear in The Mosquito Bowl, directed by Peter Berg. The movie also stars Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård. Francis also recently made his TV debut in the final season of You.

Several other actors have also been linked to the Bond role in recent months. Rumored names include Jacob Elordi, known for Euphoria and Frankenstein, along with Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Callum Turner.

Another actor mentioned during the search was Cosmo Jarvis, who recently appeared in Shōgun and Warfare. However, his representative denied the reports and said, “Cosmo is not in the mix for the role of James Bond and is not auditioning for it.”

Francis won an Olivier Award for his performance in Sunset Boulevard and also received a Tony Award nomination. Now, his name is quickly becoming one of the biggest talking points in the race to become the next Bond.
