‘Gen V’ Isn’t Fully Dead Yet as Eric Kripke Hints at Future Plan
The world of Gen V may still have a future, even after its sudden cancelation.
According to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Eric Kripke says the team is already thinking about new ways to continue parts of the story. The show, which is connected to The Boys, was recently canceled by Amazon after two seasons.
Kripke made it very clear that the decision was not his. After the news broke, he said fans had been sending him negative messages online. He responded by saying, “I did not cancel the show. One, I don’t have the power to do that.” He also added, “Two, I was fighting to keep the show, almost more than anybody else on Earth. So I’m as bummed as everybody else out there.”
Even though the series has ended, there is still talk about what comes next. Kripke said the creative team is exploring new ideas that could bring back some of the characters in future projects. “We’re internally brainstorming a couple different ideas,” he explained. He also shared that these ideas could include familiar faces, saying “All have the opportunity to absorb at least some of the Gen V gang.”
The show focused on young superheroes at a special college, with Jaz Sinclair leading the cast as Marie Moreau. Other actors included Maddie Phillips, Derek Luh, Lizze Broadway, Asa Germann, and Keeya King. Their story was closely tied to the larger events of The Boys.
Some characters are already set to continue elsewhere. Marie and Jordan Li are expected to appear in the final season of The Boys, which helps keep their storyline going. Antony Starr will also return as Homelander, keeping the connection between both shows strong.
Kripke also spoke about a planned third season idea that he still hopes to use one day. He did not share details but said, “We’re still hopeful we can find a way to do it. So, unfortunately, I can’t share it.” He did hint that Marie’s journey would have focused on learning how to control her powers.
Right now, the team is focused on another project in the same universe. Vought Rising is currently in development and will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash. The show is expected to arrive in 2027 and could run for multiple seasons.
Kripke also explained why the show was canceled. He said it came down to business decisions by Amazon. “It’s based on amount of viewers versus how expensive the show is to make, and does it make business sense for them, ultimately?” he said. “And, unfortunately, they decided that it didn’t.”
After the cancelation, Jaz Sinclair shared a message with fans on social media. She thanked them for their support and said she was grateful for the experience.
Even though Gen V is no longer moving forward as its own series, it looks like the story may not be over yet. The characters could return in other shows, and new ideas are already being discussed.
This feels like a pause rather than a full ending. The creators clearly still care about the story and the characters. Moving them into other shows could work, but only if it is done properly and not rushed. Fans will want real storylines, not just short appearances. What do you think about this situation? Do you want to see Gen V continue in a new way, or should it stay as it is? Share your thoughts in the comments.
