When it comes to the Marvel Universe’s Ant-Man, several characters have taken on the mantle of Ant-Man, with Hank Pym and Scott Lang being the most notable ones. While both characters share the same name and have the ability to shrink and grow in size, they have distinct differences in their powers, personalities, and backgrounds. But the question remains: who is the stronger Ant-Man? Is it the original inventor of the Ant-Man suit, Hank Pym, with his vast knowledge of science and technology? Or is it the street-smart and resourceful thief turned hero, Scott Lang, with his quick reflexes and ability to think on his feet? With the release of the third movie in the Ant-Man franchise, we’ve decided to revisit these characters and analyze how they would fare in a battle. Having said that, let’s check out who is stronger Hank Pym and Scott Lang.

Hank Pym is stronger than Scott Lang, but he is not the most powerful of the two. In the comics, Hank Pym was able to lift more than 100 tons thanks to his experience and mastery in utilizing his powerful suit. At the same time, in the comics, Scott Lang has the ability to lift between 25 and 75 tons in his Giant-Man form. What gives Scott Lang the edge, however, is his enhanced durability, his fighting skills, and enhanced abilities that resulted in upgraded gear. So, even if Hank Pym is the strongest Ant-Man, he is not necessarily the most powerful one.

Now that we’ve covered that Hank is the stronger of the two Ant-Man heroes but not the most powerful one, it’s time to analyze this in a bit more detail. If you’re interested in more. Stay with us and keep reading!

Powers and abilities

Both Hank Pym and Scott Lang have more or less the same powers and abilities. Most of their powers are derived via their Ant-Man suits and Pym particles, with Hanky Pym having vastly greater experience when it comes to actually using the suit. Both can communicate with insects, shrink and become giants at will. But even though Hank Pym has more experience with using the suit, he doesn’t have one power that Scott Lang has at his disposal, shrinking and increasing the size of objects at will. This is what gives Scott a slight advantage when it comes to comparing two Ant-Men.

Durability

When it comes to durability, again, it depends on the form, but by default, the Ant-Man suit provides the wearer with superhuman durability. Both Hank Pym and Scott Lang are difficult to injure, with Scott Lang being bulletproof at his mightiest. If not for the enhanced durability of the Ant-Man suit, the shrinking and turning giant would have proved lethal for the regular human body, and while the suit protects its wearer from the detrimental effect of the Pym particles, it likewise shields the wearer from outside damage such as weapons and energy blasts.

Hank Pym intelligence

Scott Lang might primarily utilize his street-smart, but he is also quite book-smart in his own right as well. Scott Lang has a master’s degree in electrical engineering. It’s what allowed him to understand the technology behind the suits in the first place. He likewise has advanced hacking skills. Even though both Hank and Scott are smart, Hank Pym is smarter. His work was revolutionary and gave rise to extremely powerful technologies capable of turning regular humans into superheroes.

Combat Skills

Hank Pym had some training while he was Avenger, provided by Captain America. Even though he is a capable fighter and has masterful control over both his miniature and giant form, he can’t measure with Scott Lang. Scott Lang had a colorful history before he became a heroic superhero, he has more experience fighting dirty and more experience navigating the streets. He had to rely more on his combat skills than Hank ever did. This is what makes him a better fighter. His skills massively likewise improved after official training.

Scott Lang beats Dr. Doom

As you can see, Hank Pym is stronger than Scott Lang, but he is not more powerful than him. Due to the needed changes made to the suits, he is also more durable and has some powers that Hank Pym doesn’t have.
