The story of ‘Ahsoka’ is shaping up to be one of the best Star Wars shows in recent memory. Of course, we know that this series will feature Ahsoka Tano and the major characters of ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ in what seems to be a reunion of the Spectres. But we also know that there have been reports saying that Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in this series. So, how will Anakin return in ‘Ahsoka’?

Hayden Christensen’s Anakin is likely going to return in a scene on Mustafar. It was rumored that Ahsoka would travel through space and time using the World Between Worlds to get to the Battle on Mustafar, where she would encounter Anakin. However, this scene will serve to make her understand that she can’t change the past.

One of the things that we’ve always known about the Star Wars world is that things happen for a good reason, and that was what Ahsoka told Ezra Bridger back in ‘Rebels.’ Nevertheless, Ahsoka will also understand why things have to happen, as she is now forced to confront her master in a scene that many believe will happen. That said, let’s talk more about this rumor.

The World Between Worlds

One of the things that were made clear in the ‘Ahsoka’ trailer is that the World Between Worlds could very well be involved in the storyline. After all, the logo of the series itself already looks like something that came from the World Between Worlds, as the markings are very similar to one another. And we have to return to the events of ‘Rebels’ to understand more about the World Between Worlds.

In season 4 of ‘Rebels,’ Ezra Bridger and the Spectres found out that the Empire was searching for something in the Jedi Temple on Lothal, as Emperor Palpatine wanted to take hold of something powerful in this temple. Ezra discovered that the puzzle that the Empire was trying to solve was a doorway that led to a place called the World Between Worlds, an interdimensional plane of existence that exists outside of time and space.

While in the World Between Worlds, a person can peer through certain windows or doors that would lead them to certain points in time. That was why Ezra was able to rescue Ahsoka as he found a door that led to the battle between her and Darth Vader on Malachor V around two years before the events of season 4. Ezra rescued Ahsoka and brought her into the World Between Worlds before Vader could kill her.

But because of the interference of Emperor Palpatine, who found a way to peek into the World Between Worlds, Ezra, and Ahsoka got separated, as Tano ended up on Malachor V once more and found a doorway that allowed her to return to the World Between Worlds. Ahsoka’s absence throughout the Rebellion period was believed to be attributed to her spiritual journey in the World Between Worlds.

As mentioned, it is likely that the World Between Worlds will return in the upcoming ‘Ahsoka’ series because the trailer already suggests this. In one scene, it looked like Ahsoka was fighting Baylan Skoll in the World Between Worlds. Even the logo of the series has markings that are similar to the ones that were present in the World Between Worlds in ‘Rebels.’

In that regard, there’s a good chance that the different events that are going to be shown in this series have something to do with the World Between Worlds, especially when it comes to the fact that this is a plane that allows people to basically travel through time unconventionally. And this is where the possibility of Anakin Skywalker returning to the series comes in.

Anakin on Mustafar

Even before the release of the ‘Ahsoka’ trailer, we already found out that Hayden Christensen, who made a triumphant return as both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series, will return in the ‘Ahsoka’ series. But not a lot of people were aware of how he will return to the show and in what capacity.

Around December of 2022, we heard that the set of ‘Ahsoka’ actually involved Hayden Christensen and a younger actress playing Ahsoka (not Rosario Dawson), practicing a fight scene that could be taking place on Mustafar. That’s because Christensen was wearing the same Jedi robes that he wore as Anakin throughout the events of ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.’ On top of that, there were reports that suggested that Obi-Wan Kenobi’s corpse would be featured in this scene.

If our information is precise, that would mean Anakin will battle Ahsoka on Mustafar. We know this never happened in the original timeline because Ahsoka was off in the Tribunal ship when Anakin and Obi-Wan were fighting on Mustafar. She was trying to survive Order 66 during the Battle on Mustafar and was not even aware that her master fell to the dark side until she confirmed it during the events of ‘Rebels.’

‘Ahsoka’: First Two Episodes’ Runtimes Possibly Revealed!

So, this could mean that Ahsoka must have used the World Between Worlds to travel back in time to the period wherein Anakin and Obi-Wan were fighting on Mustafar. And this is antithetical to what Ahsoka told Ezra.

In ‘Rebels,’ Ezra saw a doorway that led to the exact same moment where his master, Kanan Jarrus, was about to die. Kanan sacrificed himself to save the rest of the Spectres when the fuel depot on Lothal exploded. He used the Force to push back the explosion while also pushing the ship of the Spectres away from it, and he died in the process of doing so. Ahsoka told Ezra that he shouldn’t interfere with the past and that he should accept Kanan’s death because this was essential to their survival.

But if Ahsoka did indeed return to the past to confront Anakin on Mustafar, then she would have contradicted what she told Ezra when he tried to use the World Between Worlds to save Kanan. Still, because Ahsoka understood that a lot of the bad things that happened to the galaxy could be traced back to Anakin’s fall to the dark side, she must have tried to prevent those things from happening before they could happen.

Of course, if our information is correct, Ahsoka’s interference causes Obi-Wan to die. This changes the entire course of history because Obi-Wan was crucial to Luke and Leia’s lives during the Rebellion events. And Ahsoka will learn the hard way that she should never try to interfere with the past, even if it involves someone who was so important and dear to her.
