‘House of the Dragon’ Star Harry Collett Reveals He Wants to Play This Batman Character in the New DCU Era
DC Studios is moving forward with its new DC Universe reboot, and Batman is a big part of it. One of the upcoming projects is The Brave and the Bold, which will introduce a new version of the Dark Knight and his extended “Bat-family.” This includes characters like Robin and Nightwing, who may appear as the new shared universe develops.
The information comes from ComicBook, which published a recent interview with House of the Dragon actor Harry Collett. In the interview, Collett was asked about fans who are suggesting him for the role of Nightwing in the DCU.
Collett said he has seen the online fan casting but is not very familiar with the character yet. He explained that people have been sending him messages about it, saying they see him as a good fit for Dick Grayson, the character who becomes Nightwing in DC comics.
He said, “people have been DMing me saying … I mean, I’m not familiar with the character yet … with Nightwing in DC.”
After hearing more about the character and the idea, Collett reacted positively. When it was suggested that he could fit the role, he showed interest in being part of the DC Universe under James Gunn’s direction.
He responded simply with, “James Gunn, please.” Nightwing is one of Batman’s most important allies in the comics. He is the original Robin, Dick Grayson, who later grows up and becomes his own hero in Blüdhaven. In live-action, the character has appeared in different forms over the years, but he has not been a major part of recent big-screen Batman films.
The most recent live-action version of Nightwing appeared in the Titans series, where Brenton Thwaites played the role. Earlier film versions of Robin appeared in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, where Chris O’Donnell played an older version of the character.
The DC Universe has not yet officially cast Batman for its new reboot. However, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has confirmed that the new universe will include Batman-related characters from the start. The Brave and the Bold is expected to focus on Damian Wayne, Batman’s son, as Robin, which also suggests that other versions of Robin and Nightwing may already exist in the timeline.
This setup leaves room for Dick Grayson to already be an adult Nightwing when the story begins. That means the DCU could introduce him directly as a fully developed hero instead of showing his early days as Robin.
ComicBook reports that Gunn’s DCU is building a long-term connected universe, and Batman’s world is a major part of that plan. While no casting decisions have been confirmed yet, fan interest in actors like Harry Collett shows that audiences are already thinking about who could take on these roles.
For now, Collett has not been officially linked to the role. But his interest, combined with growing fan support, adds another name to the ongoing conversation about who will join the new DC Universe as it takes shape.
