I’ll research this Jackson brothers documentary and its MIPCOM launch across several sources first, then write the article.
Jackson Brothers Finally Tell Their Own Story in a New Documentary, With Tito Jackson’s Final Interview at Its Heart
For decades, the story of the Jackson 5 has been told through the lens of its most famous member. Michael Jackson’s solo career eclipsed nearly everything around it, and the four brothers who helped build the group’s sound often stood in the background of the narrative. That’s about to change in a big way.
Interest in the family has been surging this year. The Michael Jackson biopic ‘Michael,’ directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson, opened on April 24, 2026. In August, Marlon Jackson announced he was developing ‘The Manager. The Mythology. The Legend.,’ an eight-episode docuseries about patriarch Joe Jackson for BLK Prime.
Now, a new project is giving the brothers their own spotlight. A documentary launching at the MIPCOM market will tell the story of Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon Jackson for the first time, in what Variety described as an exclusive. The film comes from Banijay UK’s Workerbee and Paper Route Studios, with Mediawan handling international distribution and launching a sales push at the market.
The film is still untitled, but its description promises the story of four brothers and their journey as part of one of the world’s earliest, most successful and most influential boy bands. It also explores the different roads each of their lives took afterward. The documentary will run 90 minutes and can also be watched as a three-part docuseries.
It has reportedly been three years in the making and is directed by Benjamin Hirsch, who also worked on Janet Jackson’s documentary. The producers have secured exclusive access to the four brothers, who come together to tell their story as it has never been told before. They also describe never-before-seen access to the family archives, which could offer rare glimpses into the group’s early years.
Perhaps the most poignant detail is that the film features the final interview Tito Jackson gave before his death in 2024. That gives the project an emotional weight beyond a typical music documentary. For fans, hearing him reflect on the group’s journey will likely be one of its most moving elements.
Workerbee Group CEO Rick Murray told Variety that it was an instant yes when Marc Pos approached the company about working with The Jacksons. He called the Jackson 5 one of the most influential musical acts of all time. Pos and Murray serve as executive producers, while Yessica De Brouwer is associate producer.
This isn’t the first time the brothers have appeared on screen as a unit. In 2009, A&E announced a reality series about Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon as they planned a new album and tour. That show followed them in the aftermath of Michael’s death and focused on their day-to-day lives.
This new documentary appears to take a broader, more reflective approach. Rather than a snapshot of a particular moment, it looks back across the full arc of their careers. It also arrives at a time when audiences are hungry for more context about the family’s history.
Music documentaries about family acts can be tricky, because they have to balance nostalgia with honesty. The Jackson story is especially complicated, with a demanding father, a rapid rise through Motown and a legacy that remains widely debated. Giving the four brothers control over how it’s told could make for a revealing watch.
MIPCOM is where international buyers shop for programming, so the film’s launch there is just the beginning of its journey. A release date, platform and title have not been announced yet. Given the attention around the family this year, buyers are likely to take notice.
For fans of the Jackson 5, this is a long-awaited chance to hear from the brothers themselves. It’s also a fitting tribute to Tito, whose final words will live on in the film.
