Jacob Elordi Out as Cannes Film Festival Juror Due to Injury
Jacob Elordi is reportedly no longer being considered for a spot on the Cannes Film Festival jury after suffering a recent injury.
According to a Hollywood insider speaking to Page Six, the actor broke his foot not long ago. The source said, “so they’re trying to replace him as a judge at Cannes.” The information has not been officially confirmed by the festival or Elordi’s team.
The Cannes Film Festival jury for this year has not been fully announced yet. However, South Korean director Park Chan-wook has been named as the jury president. He is known for films like “Old Boy,” “Thirst,” and “Decision to Leave.”
There were earlier rumors that Elordi might be part of the jury, along with other names like Demi Moore. There was also talk that Julianne Moore could receive the Kering Women in Motion Award during the festival.
Elordi’s representatives have not responded to media requests for comment, including multiple attempts since Friday, according to the same Page Six report.
The Cannes Film Festival, which runs from May 12 to May 23, is known for its jury made up of international filmmakers, actors, and writers. It often includes a mix of established names and younger rising stars.
Elordi, who is 28, has recently been in the spotlight for his acting work. He received an Oscar nomination for “Frankenstein” and also appeared in “Wuthering Heights” alongside Margot Robbie.
There have also been recent reports about his personal life, including rumored dating links to Kendall Jenner, though nothing has been confirmed publicly.
The actor has also spoken in past interviews about injuries. In one account shared with Esquire, he described a serious incident while filming when he burned his back in a steam shower. He said, “I leant back and my back seared into the steam knob and I stood up screaming; it tore up my back. When I went to work on Monday I had a second-degree burn.”
Earlier reporting from Men’s Health in 2021 also mentioned that Elordi had previously suffered a back injury in high school rugby, which required him to lie down during school for a long period and still affects him today.
For now, the Cannes jury lineup remains incomplete, and it is not clear who will replace him if the reports are accurate.
