James Gunn Wants Dave Bautista in the DCU Asks Fans for Ideas

James Gunn has made quite a name for himself in the superhero world. He managed to bring the Z-list Marvel superhero team to the big screen and turn it into a billion-dollar franchise in a relatively short span of time. After being fired by Marvel Studios because of some old Tweets that resurfaced, Gunn worked on one last ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie before eventually taking over the reins of his very own cinematic universe alongside Safran.

Now we know that James Gunn was very close to the stars of the GotG franchise and this is why pretty much all of them stood with Gunn when he was fired, most vocally it was Dave Bautista who publicly defended Gunn calling him “one of the most loving, caring, good matured people he ever met.” After Bautista, several of his co-stars also joined in the defense, but alas it was too late. Following this, Bautista refused to work with other directors. After the release of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ despite the team continuing on, albeit with different members, Bautista said that this was his last MCU movie expressing that he wants to do more serious, dramatic roles in the future of his career.

But, as life would have it Bautista might be done with the superhero world, but the superhero world is not done with him as Gunn now wants him in the newly rebooted and revamped DCU, but there’s a catch, he needs to find a role of him and he took to Threads to ask fans for the ideas.

We have no doubt that Bautista would like to work with Gunn again and Gunn also has a tendency to hire his family, friends, and former coworkers to join him on his latest projects. He even came under scrutiny recently when Sean Gunn was cast as Maxwell Lord, with fans including some actors pointing out the nepotism. Levi was one of the actors who responded to the news of Gunn being cast with a somewhat cynical answer.

When you’re the brother of the guy who runs DC, I guess you get to play who you want.

Some fans pointed out, however, that his brother gets only minor roles, with the exception of Maxwell Lord.  Now we don’t know in what kind of a role Bautista will show up, and even in which project, but one thing is for sure, Gunn will definitely find a place for him.
