Kang the Conqueror Reportedly Being Dropped for Now as the Studio Wants To Focus on Other Multiversal Villains

Following the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qunatumania’ the superhero media world was shaken by allegations brought to light against Jonathan Majors, introduced in ‘Loki’ Season 1 as Victor Timely and in ‘Quantumania’ as Kang the Conqueror, the next big villain for the Multiversal Saga.

Jonathan Majors’ career has been in somewhat of a freefall ever since he was arrested in March 2023 after an alleged assault of a woman he knew and was rumored to be his girlfriend. He was laid off from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring the actor were pulled.

This was officially the end of Majors’ career as MCU’s Kang the Conqueror and the studio found itself in sort of a pickle. They’ve built up Kang as the primary villain of the Multiversal Saga through both seasons of ‘Loki’ and ‘Quantumania’ only to be forced to drop their main star.

Ever since then, rumors have been spreading that the studio wants to cool it with Kang, at least for the time being, there were also talks that the character will be recast with names like Colman Domingo and John David Washington being through around.

The character will most certainly be recast, but according to the latest reports by Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez via his Discord AMA, the studio wants to focus on other Multiversal villains before they shift the focus back to Kang.

I have heard they want to focus on other multiversal villains before dealing with Kang again.

Perez also doubts that Doctor Doom will be the main villain in the current saga due to the limited time available to develop his character properly. He believes it would be unfair to the character and the audience to rush his introduction and role. Instead, he suggest Doom deserves a more extensive setup than just appearing in one post-credit scene and then serving as the main antagonist for only two movies. Additionally, there are rumors that Doom will be handled similarly to Loki in the ‘Infinity Saga,’ implying a more gradual and nuanced development rather than being a straightforward villain.

The bit with other multiversal villains is currently, true. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is ready to be released in a few weeks and the villain of that movie will be Cassandra Nova, with a multiversal twist.
