Karen Fukuhara said that her character Kimiko in “The Boys” finally got the kind of standout hero moment she once hoped for, comparing it directly to Arya Stark’s key turning point in “Game of Thrones.”

Fukuhara spoke at Denver Expor and said: “it’s very satisfying to see him (Butcher) be the one to get his revenge. I had my Arya Stark moment… in Game of Thrones I was rooting for her (Arya Stark)”

Fukuhara previously said she wanted Kimiko to have a shocking, decisive role in defeating a major villain. She described that kind of twist as something meaningful for her character, where the unexpected hero steps up in a critical moment.

She said, “I will say I want like the Arya Stark moment you know when she defeats the White Walker and nobody expected that, so perhaps, maybe Homelander can be taken out by Kimiko. I don’t know, that would be a good death, like if I’m going to take him out, I would be willing to die.”

In the final episodes of “The Boys,” Kimiko’s story moves toward exactly that kind of payoff, but with a different outcome than a simple revenge kill. Instead of directly defeating Homelander through brute force, Kimiko becomes part of a larger plan that ultimately strips him of his powers.

In the series’ final storyline, the team develops a last-resort weapon designed to neutralize Homelander. Before his death, Frenchie creates a method that allows Kimiko to absorb a radioactive, superpower-removing energy. This ability is similar in concept to Soldier Boy’s power, which was previously shown in the series as capable of removing Compound V abilities.

To activate this power, Kimiko exposes herself to enriched uranium, turning her body into the source of the destructive blast needed to stop Homelander. This transformation becomes one of the most dangerous choices she makes in the series.

The final confrontation takes place during a chaotic battle inside the White House Oval Office. Billy Butcher, Ryan, and Homelander are all present as tensions reach their peak. At this point, Kimiko is meant to be the final piece of the plan.

However, emotionally, she struggles. After losing Frenchie, she is overwhelmed by grief and initially cannot bring herself to activate the blast. In that moment of hesitation, she experiences a vision of Frenchie, who helps her regain clarity. The memory reminds her that her strength is not driven by hatred, but by love and the choices she makes for herself.

Once she finds that emotional balance again, Kimiko triggers the radioactive blast. The energy successfully removes Compound V from Homelander, Billy Butcher, and Ryan, leaving all three powerless. This moment changes the outcome of the entire conflict and allows Butcher to finally overpower Homelander.

With Homelander no longer protected by his abilities, Butcher is able to kill him, ending the central conflict of the series.

By the end of the story, Kimiko survives and is given a more peaceful conclusion than her counterpart in the original comic books. She says goodbye to the remaining members of the group and honors her promise to Frenchie by traveling to Paris. There, she is shown living quietly, spending time in cafes and enjoying small moments of normal life. She even adopts a puppy, something she and Frenchie had once planned together.

Fukuhara’s earlier comments about wanting a major heroic moment reflect how Kimiko’s final arc is shaped. While not a direct one-on-one kill like Arya Stark’s, her role becomes essential in defeating Homelander and ending the war, giving her a central and decisive place in the finale.
