Kirsten Dunst has shared that she’s open to returning as Mary Jane Watson if Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire ever becomes a reality.

The actress, who starred as MJ in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy, recently spoke about the idea during an interview on The Supes Show.

When asked if she would reprise her role, Dunst said she’d love to see what Peter Parker and MJ’s lives might look like now, years after the last film.

“That would be cool, right? I mean, I don’t know if the fans are into it. I feel like that is an interesting movie, right? Me and Tobey doing that again… with kids,” she said.

Her comment has sparked excitement among fans who have long hoped to see Maguire and Dunst reunite on screen.

After Maguire’s surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, many wondered if Sony and Marvel might revisit his version of the web-slinger. The film’s ending seemed to leave the door open for more stories in that universe.

While Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are currently busy working on Spider-Man: Brand New Day starring Tom Holland, there’s still a lot of interest in continuing Raimi’s timeline. The original Spider-Man 4 was actually in early development back in 2007, with Raimi set to direct and both Maguire and Dunst expected to return.

The project eventually fell apart due to creative differences and scheduling issues, leading to a complete reboot of the series a few years later.

Interestingly, screenwriter Mattson Tomlin, known for co-writing The Batman, recently revealed online that he wants to get in touch with Sam Raimi about writing Spider-Man 4.

He shared his personal vision for the story, saying, “Honestly right now my main interest in this respect would be to write a Spider-Man 4 where Tobey’s Spider-Man is juggling being a husband and a father. Spider-Man as a father is where I gravitate towards given the last 8 films.”

The idea of seeing Peter Parker as a parent has gained traction among fans, especially since both Dunst and Tomlin seem to share a similar vision for what a new Spider-Man 4 could explore. With nostalgia for the Raimi trilogy stronger than ever, the possibility of revisiting that world doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
