Apple TV’s twisty con artist thriller keeps raising the stakes, and episode 3 of ‘Lucky‘ finally delivers the face off fans have been waiting for. The series follows Luciana “Lucky” Armstrong, played by Anya Taylor-Joy, a con artist on the run after a multimillion dollar heist collapses and her husband disappears with the money.

Priscilla was impressed by how quickly John got things done, though she warned him to slow down since they were generating more cash than they could safely move. This backstory helps explain how John was able to pull off stealing money from Wayne Whittaker in the first place.
Even though John took pride in how he operated, Lucky made it clear to her father that she wanted nothing to do with his business, and that she did not want to be around Priscilla at all. It is a small but telling moment that shows just how far Lucky has drifted from the criminal world she was raised in, only to be pulled right back into it as an adult.
The Torture of Noah Marks a Brutal Turn for ‘Lucky’ Episode 3
Things take a much darker turn once Priscilla decides Noah has outlived his usefulness. Dutch kills Noah on Priscilla’s order after a prolonged interrogation fails to produce Cary’s location, which leaves Lucky to continue her search using an identification card taken from his body.
The interrogation itself is difficult to watch. Dutch believes Noah created Cary’s false identification, so he shoots the captive man in the leg, breaks his nose, and cuts off one of his fingers while demanding answers. The performance behind Noah’s terror has been singled out as one of the episode’s most effective elements.
Lucky has to stay hidden while all of this unfolds at Priscilla’s farm, watching Dutch torture and eventually kill Noah, even though Noah doesn’t seem to actually know anything about the fake identification Dutch suspects him of creating. It’s a gut punch of a sequence that raises the emotional and physical stakes for the rest of the season.
Luciana and Cary Finally Cross Paths in This Episode
Armed with Noah’s identification, Lucky puts her late father’s lessons to use. What follows is a fast paced display of everything John taught his daughter, including how to blend into a stranger’s celebration, steal without drawing attention, invent a new personality, and pressure a shady real estate worker.
That trail eventually leads her straight to Cary’s new place. Lucky breaks into the home and ransacks it, partly to search for the ten million dollars and partly out of pure rage at her husband, breaking glass bottles and tearing apart pillows and a mattress along the way.
Her search pays off when she finds something unexpected. She discovers a backpack in the laundry basket containing a laptop and a gun, and after checking the laptop she realizes Cary has invested the stolen money in crypto, meaning she now needs his six word seed phrase to access the wallet.
The episode closes on a chilling image. Cary returns home after a dip in the sea and is shocked by the state of his place, then walks into the living room to find Lucky sitting in a chair with his laptop in front of her, giving him a deadly stare.
What the Episode 3 Ending Means Going Forward
The ‘Lucky’ episode 3 ending leaves plenty of tension hanging in the air heading into the back half of the season. Wayne also calls Priscilla to reveal that he has independently figured out Cary’s location, raising fresh questions about whether he might have a mole feeding him information from inside the FBI.
Meanwhile, the investigators chasing Lucky are still a step behind her at every turn. Rand eventually gets face time with Priscilla, who implies her pursuit is personal after losing one of her own agents, while Gates makes the real breakthrough by tracing Cary’s car purchase to a fake identification and a new address.
Given everything Cary has done to her, it seems unlikely that Lucky will be in a forgiving mood when the confrontation finally plays out on screen. Considering how the episode ends, it is safe to say Cary should get used to being greeted with that same icy stare for a while.
