Magicians: The Devil’s Deal is a new game revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, and it is already getting attention for its strange mix of dark fantasy, stage magic, and BioShock-like atmosphere. The game is planned to launch in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

According to the announcement shared during the showcase, the game comes from Uppercut Games, a studio made up of developers who previously worked on BioShock. That connection is clear in the tone and style of the game, which takes place in a detailed historical world filled with mystery, danger, and heavy atmosphere. The setting mixes Victorian-inspired design with supernatural horror, creating a place where illusion and reality constantly overlap.

The story follows a character named Jacob Menteuro, a once-famous stage magician whose life changes after he makes a deal with The Devil.

He is cast into a twisted version of Hell called Theatreland, where performance is not just entertainment but the main force that controls everything. Jacob is forced to survive in this strange world while hunting powerful enemies known as the Masters, who once betrayed him. As he travels deeper into Theatreland, he also tries to uncover the truth behind what happened to him and why he was chosen for this fate.

The official description highlights that magic in this world is no longer just stage trickery. It has become real, physical, and deadly. Jacob learns to use magical abilities as weapons, turning simple stage props into tools of destruction. Cards become sharp projectiles, chains can trap enemies, and even gravity can be bent during combat. Each ability changes how fights play out, making players rely on timing, observation, and creative thinking rather than just shooting.

The developers describe Theatreland as a broken reflection of Victorian London, buried deep in Hell. Each area is ruled by different Masters, and every region has its own style, rules, and dangers. The world is designed to feel unpredictable, with environments that change based on the influence of these powerful figures. Nothing stays stable for long, and players are always pushed to adapt.

The story also focuses heavily on betrayal and revenge. Jacob is not only fighting enemies but also dealing with his past connections, including mentors and fellow magicians who turned against him. His journey is driven by survival, but also by a growing obsession with uncovering the truth behind the world he is trapped in. The deeper he goes, the more unclear his path becomes.

The game strongly resembles BioShock in tone and structure, but replaces science-based powers with theatrical magic and illusion. The developers are clearly building on that legacy while trying to create something new with a stronger focus on performance and deception.

Magicians: The Devil’s Deal stands out as a dark, story-driven shooter that mixes magic, combat, and psychological themes. With its Game Pass release and unusual setting, it is already shaping up to be one of the more unique reveals from the Xbox Games Showcase 2026.
