MCU has quite a lot of projects to release in 2024, 2025, and beyond. We know that there are several movies being worked on currently and affected by the strikes, but none of them are as anticipated as ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ which are expected to continue MCU’s tradition of majestic crossovers.

Although next to nothing was known about the projects, we do know that Kang the Conqueror was expected to take over from Thanos as the main villain of the Multiverse Saga; however, soon after the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ it became clear that the audience did not react to the new villain accordingly. Jonathan Majors, who was playing Kang and all of his variants, also got into some legal troubles and was promptly fired.

Following this turn of events, various theories started developing, that following Majors’ dismissal the “true” villain of the MCU would be revealed in ‘Secret Wars.’ The theories range from Doctor Doom to the Beyonder, it makes more sense if we take into account the original comic storyline.

There’s also been talk about including various cameos, the talk was so loud that it reached the Marvel Studios execs apparently. They are aware that all eyes are now pointed at ‘Secret Wars,’ and for now, they are using it to their advantage.

During the 2024, CinemaCon, several projects were showcased as well as some entertaining short videos. Among them was an alleged theater spot that is supposed to warn people to keep their phones silent.

At the core of the spot is Deadpool who is trying to tell Wolverine who is going to be in ‘Secret Wars,’ but he keeps being interrupted by ringing phones until Wolverine loses his cool.

This is the ultimate proof that the studio is aware of what fans are expecting, fortunately, they have quite some time to think of something really great.

Then again, one persisting months-long rumor comes to mind as well. For quite some time there’s been talk that MCU will be completely rebooted with ‘Secret Wars.’ Joanna Robinson revealed that Kevin Feige had a quote that sort of implied that happening, as revealed in her latest book:

“We have a quote from Kevin Feige sort of implying… that like Secret Wars will serve as a soft reboot in which they can prune everything. That’s not to use a Loki-ism. Prune everything that’s not working and just keep what is [working], or bring back people you thought were gone forever.”

We don’t know what the premise of ‘Secret Wars’ is bound to be, but we do know that it makes sense for it to work as a reboot. The MCU is getting crowded with big players, especially if X-Men and Fantastic Four are to be soon included in it.

According to the recent rumors, the writers for ‘Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Secret Wars’ were replaced, with ‘Deadpool 3 reportedly directly leading into the events of the ‘Secret Wars.’ So it’s obvious that multiverse and timeline hopping will be a big part of it.

Currently, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is set to conclude the Multiverse Saga on May 7, 2027.
