Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Reveals Whether ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Will Be Split Into Two Movies

Marvel fans have spent months debating one of the more persistent rumors surrounding the franchise’s next big finale, wondering whether ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ would follow the same two-part structure that defined ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame.’ Given the sheer scale of what this next chapter needs to accomplish, the theory never felt entirely far-fetched.

That speculation only intensified as Marvel’s marketing machine kicked into high gear around ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ With so many characters, storylines, and returning legacy heroes packed into just one film, fans reasonably wondered whether its sequel would need an entire second movie just to wrap everything up.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has now put that theory to rest for good, confirming that ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will not be split into two separate films. It is the clearest and most direct answer Feige has given on the subject, cutting through months of conflicting reports from various industry insiders who had claimed the opposite.

The split theory did not come from nowhere. Reports throughout early 2026 suggested Marvel had at least considered the idea internally, with some insiders claiming a final decision on splitting the film into two parts would depend heavily on how well ‘Doomsday’ performed at the box office. Others framed it as a near certainty given the scope of the source material Marvel is drawing from.

That uncertainty created real division among fans, with some arguing that a story this massive deserved the extra breathing room a two-part structure would provide, while others worried a split would feel like a transparent cash grab rather than a creative necessity. Feige’s confirmation finally settles that debate, at least from an official standpoint.

Feige has previously explained that even though these two films will not mirror the direct two part structure of ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame,’ they remain deeply connected. Speaking with Fandango after the debut of the Doomsday trailer at CinemaCon, Feige explained that the two films relate in a very different way than Infinity War and Endgame did, noting that while one certainly leads into the other, it happens in a very different way than fans might expect.

That distinction matters for how audiences should approach the back half of Marvel’s current saga. Rather than treating ‘Doomsday’ as the first half of one continuous story that only pays off once ‘Secret Wars’ arrives, Feige has framed each film as its own complete experience, connected thematically and narratively without relying on a cliffhanger structure to justify the sequel.

Feige has also described ‘Secret Wars’ as representing something bigger than a simple continuation, calling it a reset for the franchise rather than a reboot. He has explained that Secret Wars is being used not just to round out the stories told since Endgame, but to set up what comes next for the MCU, framing Endgame as being about endings while Secret Wars is about beginnings.

With the two part rumor now officially put to rest, fans can approach ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ knowing it stands on its own rather than functioning as half of a larger story waiting to be finished a year later. That clarity may actually raise the stakes for December, since Marvel now has to deliver a complete, satisfying experience within a single film.

With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ arriving in theaters on December 18 and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ following the year after, Feige’s confirmation gives fans one less variable to speculate about as the marketing rollout continues.
