Marvel really has a lot going on for them at the moment, both when the MCU and its comics are concerned. The MCU is preparing for several major releases later this year, as well as for the filming of two major Avengers movies, while the comics are focused on the “One World Under Doom” storyline.

And while many characters connect these two aspects, one of the major ones are the members of the Fantastic Four. They are playing a major role in the comics and will see a new solo movie come out later this year. In light of that, Marvel has dediced to relaunch their solo comic book series to coincide with the movie’s release.

The Fantastic Four are among the heroes mistrustful of Doom’s current intentions, which is why they are engaged in fighting him. But, in order to defeat him, they will have to go back in time to retrieve the Forever Stone, a convenient MacGuffin that is accessible in every timeline.

Their adventures, which will start in a story filled with dinosaurs, will start in July, when Marvel relaunches their solo series with Fantastic Four #1 by current writer Ryan North and artist Humberto Ramos.

But as much as this first story involves dinosaurs and time travel, it’s really about these four remarkable people and the depth of love they have for each other,” Ryan North said in a recent interview. “People often think of the FF in terms of family, and they’re not wrong, but I think there’s something really beautiful about friendship too, and we get to see that with these characters. It’s high-concept science fiction with real emotion. What’s not to like?

I’ve been lucky to illustrate many of the most iconic superheroes in the universe, but this book felt different from the start,” Ramos added in that same initerview. “The weight of history and legacy of these characters lay upon your shoulders, no matter who you are or how you’ve worked in this industry.

July is definitely going to be packed for fans of the Fantastic Four, with the movie coming out and a new solo series to top it all off. We can’t wait!
