Matt Reeves Reveals First Look at Batmobile in ‘The Batman Part II’
A new update from Matt Reeves has given fans the first real look at the next chapter of Gotham’s story in The Batman Part II. The director shared a photo on X that appears to show the Batmobile during a production camera test.
Reeves posted the image with the caption “#SnowTires 🦇,” which strongly suggests that the sequel will take place during winter. The photo itself does not reveal much detail, but it confirms that filming preparations are underway and that the project is actively moving forward.
The film continues the story of Bruce Wayne, played by Robert Pattinson, who first appeared in the 2022 movie The Batman. In that film, Batman was shown in the early stages of his crime-fighting life as he tried to stop a series of murders in Gotham City.
The original movie followed a younger and more emotional version of Bruce Wayne as he faced the Riddler, played by Paul Dano. The story was dark and focused on crime, corruption, and Batman’s struggle to understand his role in Gotham. The film performed strongly at the box office, earning over 700 million dollars worldwide.
For the sequel, several key characters are expected to return. This includes Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, also known as the Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. There is also continued expectation that Barry Keoghan will return as the Joker in some form.
New cast members are also joining the story. Reports mention that Scarlett Johansson has joined the film as Gilda Dent, the wife of Harvey Dent. Sebastian Stan is also said to be playing Harvey Dent himself. In addition, Charles Dance has been cast as Charles Dent, Harvey’s father.
Reeves has been working on the script with Mattson Tomlin. Speaking about the project at the Emmys, Reeves told Variety, “It’s been a long journey, but I am so incredibly excited. I’m really proud of the script me and Mattson did.”
The movie is currently scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. According to the production update shared by Reeves, the sequel is still in early filming stages, but the winter setting and Batmobile test suggest that Gotham’s next story is finally taking shape.
In my view, this is a strong sign that the sequel is actually moving forward after years of waiting. The winter setting also sounds like it could bring a darker and more intense tone to Gotham.
