The master of horror, Stephen King has left the world with a series of amazing and memorable books and stories. In fact, there are so many of them that naming them would take too long.

But, we can name one – Carrie. The 1974 epistolary horror novel became a major hit and has been adapted more than once, including the famous 1976 movie adaptation by legendary director Brian De Palma.

Now, a new adaptation of the popular horror is on the way, with Mike Flanagan set to direct. In a recent interview, one of the movie’s stars, Matthew Lillard, commented on the production of the movie, praising Flanagan’s work ethic.

Matthew Lillard Could Be Joining Amazon’s ‘Carrie’ Series

The revelations happened during a recent interview promoting Lillard’s upcoming movie, The Life of Chuck, which is – incidentally – also based on a Stephen King story.

Among the many things discussed was the upcoming adaptation of Carrie. In case you did not know, Amazon is producing the new adaptation, which is going to be a television series based on the novel, so expect a lot of details that we haven’t seen in earlier adaptations.

During the talk, Lillard praised director Flanagan’s approach to the movie, which doesn’t surprise us, as we’ve heard praise for Flanagan from other actors and actresses as well. Of course, as someone who knows the genre, Flanagan also has a lot of experience and that helps.

But, Lillard also revealed some details about the production. “Carrie started rehearsals yesterday. All eight episodes are completely shot-listed, every script has been written. We’re 10 days out from shooting and we’re all in the rehearsals together,” he said.

So, as you can see, pre-production has already started, and filming is set to start very, very soon, which means that we’ll probably see the series in 2026, which is great.
